Priced a job @ $360.00. Provided pictures, magnet card and information. She called a couple of days later. Can you clean it for $300.00. No I'm sorry I can't. Who beat my price? She told me. I informed her he had no business license or insurance. Did'nt matter. Priced a brick home with a small amount of vinyl and gutters.$185.00. She was getting four estimates. I told her that the gutters should clean up nicely, but some streaks could be visible but could be cleaned for an aditional cost.
I went to her house the next day. She had someone meet my price and include the gutter upgrade at no extra cost.
Went today to see how it turned out. I told her her house was beautiful and the gutters looked great.
She said yes, it took him 6 & 1/2 hours.

6 1/2 hours for $185? You probably made more money, NOT doing the job. lol.

been there done that

for some reason most customers think that the more time spent on a job makes it a better job done. i did the same thing and estimated a job that i got beat out on. this was a two hour job max. i followed up on the work of the competition to make sure the homeowner was satisifed and she informed me that she got a great deal because it took him over 6 hours to complete.

go figure,

I did offer her a gutter upgrade if needed for an additional price. Most people I compete against until now have not been able to remove streaks from gutters. He told her he had a special chemical you had to have special certifaction to use. Ha, Ha. She said he was up and down the ladder at least a hundred times.
I can get gutters clean but is is not easy. Even with the right chems.

Thats funny you say that last week we did a small tile roof. We gave her a price of $325.00 the roof was only 1600 sq ft and flat tile with no pitch. She told me she was going to go to the bank and get me cash and be right back.

She came back about 25 min later and we were already off the roof, and I started to do her drive & walk for free because I knew she was not going to beleive we were done with the roof already. The roof came out mint and she got a free drive and walk cleaning, when her husband got home he insisted that I didnt clean the roof? he told me that the last guy that did the job was there for half the day.

I went back and asked him to show me what the problem was and he had no answer for me the roof & drive was chalk white, he said that he just thought that he got ripped off because of the time we were at his property.
