Look at the money this person wants for a referral.

This person who referred me to a company that has a huge office building washed told me that if I get it that its only fair to get some type of commission. I agreed because fair is fair and I would not have an opportunity otherwise, but here is the shocker. She wants 50% commission. Now to make it even more Fantasy Island like...she wants that per quarterly cleaning or maybe she will just get her and her "Man" to do it... buwawawawawawa!!!! That was my laugh by the way.

What is a fair commission? I also know its a one time thing. The place is so huge that I will probably get Tom from ACR to help me out and I can learn some tips along the way. He and Barbara are my distributors and great by the way.

Thanks

10% is pretty much standard. If she sells it, she can pay you your price and keep the rest.

5% one time was what I would agree to, but for 50% she can go kick rocks...not exactly the words I told my Wife though lol. Poor woman has to live with a Christian hypocrite.

We have to visit and sell it cause she only has her Home Depot "I went to a class once" mentality. Its my Wifes, ex Husbands GF. Yeah I know. Strange situation...

It can turn into hundreds of locations and they already said they want quarterly pricing...so who knows.

If her and her man can do it then why refer it to you? Sounds like she just wants somethong for nothing. 10% off the 1st cleaning is what I would pay. Its not like shes your commercial sales rep.

Bryan, I hear stuff like that a lot. I just don't understand it. If someone hands me an account why would I only give them 10% from the first cleaning?

For example:

If you get handed a PM that's 10k per month and you keep the account for 10 years that's 1.2 million dollars. The guy who handed it off to you gets $1,000. That sounds crazy to me. If I were that guy I'd never give you anything again.

Now, on the other hand if you get the job handed to you and you give the guy 10% as long as the account is open you've got an ally to help you keep the account going. You've got a guy who doesn't want to lose the $12k per year helping you service the PM and dropping off cookie jars and Candy and the like.

Further, in most cases of hand offs like that you are well aware of the fact that the account is yours for the taking and adding 5 to 10% to the bid is usually easily accomplished and the referral commission really doesn't cost you a dime.

I just don't understand this mentality. I happily paid for dry clean customer referrals for the life of the account and they just grew and grew. I gave 10% to my drivers in perpetuity. They worked their butts off to keep the accounts open and took a huge workload off of me.

Well.. I wouldnt go on the promise of future work period. As far as a finders fee. I would say 10% is good. depending on the job and its a one time deal. Ist this conflict of interest for the PM? I know that there is somone who wants to m ake money off of giving u a job. this mentality has no end if they find someone who will give them more they will drop you. You can always cater a company meeting mabey raffle off some nice nfl tickets or somthing doesnt always have to be $.

2 years prison and 60 months probation would be a fair commission for extortion.:smash:

Charge her 75% more to make up the commission.

Tony,

I was talking abouty if it was a one time cleaning. A typo on my part when I said the 1st cleaning. Yes if it was a montly contract then I would still give 5-10 on the residuel income.

Thanks for bringing that to my attention. Thats why I like these boards so much.

So thats why that business folded Tony, you gave the bank away. LOL LOL Kidding

I would give 10% depending how big the job is and 5% at most for work forward.
I have a feeling these Ex whatevers are lazy fools, that probably just want something for nothing, their unemployment and food stamps must be running out LMAO

I have no problem paying for a lead or paying someone back for helping my company, I just don't like anyone that really thinks they are worth 50% of my hard work and they do nothing. I probably would just laugh at them, tell them to go sit on their Home Depot units and spin:slap::nhl_checking:

I would pay any commission if I was making the bottom line. I careless what the commission is if I'm making more money.

I laugh when I price things three times higher than someone I sub too an they think I'm robbing them. Wait they made double because I'm a better sales person.

Always different ways to look at things.

As long as I make what I need to make I'm good with a little commission. But I would not pay anyone 50% for just introducing me to someone. You would'nt pay a salesman that much commission.

I formula would never work, but I would do it. It's fantasy land!!!

Welcome to fantasy pressure washing, you will also recieve a suitcase with 100 bills delivered by a beautiful red head you can keep. Remember it's fantasy pressure wash where all your wildish wash dreams come true.

5% for a larger job, 10% for smaller stuff is what we pay and it's a one time deal.
