I didn't see a ground man in the pictures ?
Did you have any problems with dead grass or plants from all that chemical going everywhere ?

No problems at all. We always use a ground man, ALWAYS.... for protection of vegitation and safety while man is on the roof. I even used sprinkler on this one, because the run off was going to one area , so i wanted to keep it saturated.

The pic you see of the guy spraying was when he was cleaning the building, not xjetting the roof.

Great Jeff!
This will help you X Jetting roofshttp://www.zinsser.com/product_detail.asp?ProductID=142

Because you really can not increase draw on your X Jet, other then using a smaller machine.shorter hose, etc, wouldn't it be NICE to be able to INCREASE strength of the Sodium Hypochlorite to "compensate" ?

This stuff will do the trick.

We always carry some just in case we run into a SOB of a roof.

Disregard the instructions, just dump some into your stuff, and X Jet away.

The stronger the mix is to begin with, the stronger it ultimately will be when Jomax!

Bear in mind this stuff only lasts for 3 hours, after that, your mix goes back to regular old chlorine/water.

Enjoy my brother, a gift from Apple Roof Cleaning to you!

i have not tried this x-jet roof cleaning but i am so curious to try. first off, are you actually using an x-jet or the m-5? do you throttle your pw down? what is your shc:water mix? am i asking too many questions? do you mind?

thanks in advance,

rando

I use the M5. I do believe it would be better to use a pump, like shurflo or another set up. But when I started all I had was an xjet and it worked great for me, I like being able to do the long shots. We have some real funky roofs around here.

I use M5 with a 3gpm machine, yes I have throttled it down , but dont anymore. I spray straight 12%

hey jeff,

thanks for the info. i too use a 3gpm machine. according to the people at sunbrite with no proportioner you should get between around a 1.2:1 mix which is pretty darn close to 50/50 and that's my stardard mix. i want to give this thing a try with the m5. i like the portable 5 gallon bucket they sell with the hose on the inside but i think we could probably make our own cheaper.

thanks,

rando

I just use a 5 gallon bucket and about 40-45 ft of xjet hose tied to bucket so it wont get pulled out, set it at the top of the ladder on the roof, When it needs refilling I have my ground man fill it. I walk the roof, its peaks & valleys, just be careful not to step on the xjet hose, its so darn slick, also be careful pulling your pressure line on the shingle, the 1st 1 or 2 roofs I did it got caught. I pull plenty up and drape it over the other side of roof. I also use a gun with no wand its easier to handle when running around the roof

Heres some pics of a roof we did a while back, you can see the bucket at the top of the ladder in the 1st & 4th picture, the 4th pic is another roof, you can see xjetting does just fine. A lot of people would say carrying bucket up ladders is unsafe, thats why a shurflo type set up would be safer. I have no problem with Xjetting its less equipment I need to carry around
