What is the life expecancy of the electric generator for Hydro Tek's hot water 8 gpm unit? I just had it replaced after 5 years. $800 plus about $375 labor!:yikes:

Is it the Leroy-Sommers generator? Sorry to tell you now but you can replace it with a voltmaster for $300 I think, have to do your own bolt down. I think those Leroys can go any where up to lifetime - eventually a diode goes out.

The new voltmaster generators come with a 2 year warranty and they are less than $500 with shipping. Like Tom said they can last from hours to years it just depends...but 5 years I would be happy with that.

But $375 labor??? That seems on the far side of ridiculous

Welcome to our world of everything being overprice except for the work we do...which is way underpriced but nobody wants to pay what where worth...Funny how this plays out. I'm expecting some veterans to leave and alot more then the usual and the hacks to come and go at a much faster pace. This is the age of the the revolving door on steroids spitting out the jobless.
