Just Picked Up a BIG CONTRACT

Well I have been working on this for a week or so and it looks like I got the contract, it will be about $100,000 a year to start and they are adding more Shopping centers as they are built and one is about finished too. I will be doing Sweeping and Pressure Washing on these centers, mostly sweeping to start and they are working numbers now on the washing end of them. I have to buy another Truck to keep up with it and maybe another washer I won't know until I see the final contracts. Looks like I won't be able to make it to the RT in Phx, I have to fly back to AL to pick up a sweeper and drive it out west and I will need a GPS LOL I have never been back there before. ;)

It's not that I can't afford it LOL I will be drivng a Sweeper back from AL,so I can start the new contract on NOV 3 ;) But I will make to one of these soon I hope and Really wanted to make it to this one :( But I have to make sure this contract go's good.

Thats great, cant wait to meet another great guy.

Well I'm looking into Shipping the new truck now, it maybe cheaper then driving it and my work load is getting worse, but they are flying me back to look at the truck. I can't wait to make it to a RT and meet a few of you and learn new things.

When I was looking at having my Big Bucket Truck shipped from Rochester, NY down here to South Texas, the best price I could get at the time was $3.00 per mile to have it driven and anything that went wrong along the way I would have to pay for out of my pocket or they could plus 50% add on fee.

When I did the math, it was less expensive for me and a friend to fly up there and drive it down. With the snowstorms, rain, etc... it took us 4.5 days since we were logging the miles and hours by the book since he is a professional driver and has to keep everything on the books.

I think it was around 1800 miles more or less and it was around $1500.00 in fuel plus hotels, food, etc...

It came out a lot cheaper driving it down. I had no work lined up at the time and needed some experience driving it so it worked out good that way.

Now I have a CDL license since it is very heavy, 26,820 pounds.

I forgot that to put it on a flatbed (lowboy) would be starting at $4.00 per mile.

Terry, is it the Pickup-style or the mid-size or the huge sweeper?

Seriously if this is based on a Hino , UD,Iveco or Isuzu chasis you might want to add a few days most of these trucks are geared as in town delivery vehicles and do not do well on long over the road trips so take it easy and stop to check out the world on the way.

What Worries me is the CRAZIES in AL to start with, I'm not sure I can make it out of there ALIVE :D

Chris it is on an Isuzu chassis a WD 4500, it's made by Schwarze here is a link to what the truck looks like http://products.schwarze.com/S-Series/s348i.html

It will go down the freeway at 65 with now problems at all, but driving all the way here might be hard for me now. I have to figure out when I can take delivery of it and see how the time line is for driving all the way to Reno. I start the new contracts on NOV 3 so I have to back in town by then and they might not have it ready for me until anywhere from OCT 22 to the 29 so I just dont know yet. I figure it will cost me 900 bucks in fuel or more to drive it plus my time and hotel rooms so if it is $1500 to ship it I might as well have it shipped here. I'm going to make a few phone calls today to see how much it will be and when it will be ready for me.

I don't need the truck the first few nights so I'm ok there we can handle it without it for a few nights anyways LOL but we will be running, It's a good thing most of my washing for the month is done or it would be CRAZY trying to do all of this.

That is a nice truck. Does it have AC and radio?

My Big Bucket Truck has a governor on it so the top speed is 65mph and you really don't want that truck to go any faster than that.

Find out what it will cost to have it shipped vs. driving it.

Maybe I could drive it for you???? Hmmmmmmmm.........

You never know. What is that like 2300 miles??

Yea it is 2312 miles LOL atleast thats what it comes up at and it will do 85 plus it is just like the one I have, but we never drive much more then 60 in it. They want $4700 to bring it to me it's about $1.25 per mile now to bring it here and that is way to much so I'm going to drive it and make $1000 a day to drive:eek: It has air and a radio cd player in it. So it looks like I will be drivng for a few day I figure it will cost about $900 maybe $1000 to drive back thats with gas and a place to stay.

Good luck with $900. I think that you are really underestimating the cost of doing it.

2300 miles, at .35cents a mile in fuel equals $805 that is about 10 miles to the gallon. If you can squeeze 17 mpg, it is 20 cents a mile and would be $460. Three nights hotel in a no tell motel, figure $60 a night, so now, you are at a minimum of $640. Three days of meals, figure about $30 a day, that is $270, that is $910. Plus your flight out there, around $400, one way. $1310. That is still cheaper that $4700, but there will be other expenses, along with the cost of not being in town.

Don't blame me, I am in a funk cuz I fired my lead man today. It was bad enough I swore at him and yelled at him. That is not something I do.

Ouch....!!!!!

I get 14 to 15 Miles per gal in my other truck and this is the same Model ;) No reason I can get that in this one too so if you figure 2300 miles by say $4.25 a gal, I think you will find it around the $540 in fuel and they are covering the airfare out there :D hotel is $60 to $80 and meals and I have to eat anyways so even if I were at home so no biggy there, so like I said I will do it for less then a Grand. But I'm going to try and make it in three days if I can back to Reno. But even if it cost me $1200 by the time I'm done I still save a lot of Cash as they wanted $4600 plus
My girl friend maybe coming with me to help me drive it, So I think it works out much better then $1.25 per mile to ship it don't you? I know you allways run into other things but it is something I need to do and have no choice in doing as I need the truck and this contract will pay for it and the work they are going to give me on top of that when the centers come online.

Sorry to hear about your bad day too, I know how that go's and it's not fun and you allways feel like crap afterwards.

That does make it a bit better.

So, what advantages do the Schwarzes have over the Tymcos? I have never been in the sweeper biz, but have long been interested in it.

And you will put your chica up in an $80 a night place?
