Just a personal Question on Decks

That is a good question. Maybe Amdro for ants. I know it works on fire ants. That would suck having that stuff all over your deck.

Here is a true story. Years ago, I took my nephew to the movies and it started raining very, very hard and we had to take all kinds of side roads to get home without getting my mustang stuck in the standing water.

I found out a week later that he had some candy and left it in the car and I could not smell it but one day I had a lot of ants in my car. I got the raid and and roach spray and killed a lot of them but there were like millions of them.

I could not figure out what to do so I got some of the Amdro and killer and put it in the car and left the windows up for a couple days. That stuff killed the ants but I had to drive with the windows down for like a week, that stuff is strong.
 
I thought that I had read that when roof cleaners use Borax in their mix it works as a bug & insect repellent. I could be wrong but I thought I read that before.
 
Go to your local independent hardware store and read their Ortho book. I use Malathion in a pump sprayer but you have some nasty ants down there.
 
Ants in ur pantz....

I know that diatamaceous (?) earth works for slugs and snails... it cuts up their little bodies as they cross a line of it applied on the ground. You can get it at any pool supply store. Borax or bicarbonate of soda (arm and hammer) will work too, but wash away easily... then there are the chemicals like pyrethins which are plant based and will kill ants... hope this helps.

Holy crap that thing is huge!! (Yes...that is what she said...)

As for the fire ants....Grits. Seriously. My grandmother used to use them down at the beach house and we still use them at our house now. Kills the whole colony.

Also....you can find the main mound, dig a little bit out and pour some rubbing alcohol down their and set it on fire. Let it burn for about ten minutes. I did that this last spring to a bed around my mail box that kept coming back. They have not been back since.
 
How about just calling a proffesional pest control company? Just as we hope pest control companies on there BB saying how do i get rid of this nasty mold on my house.

Then you have guy's telling him to use gasoline!! LOL

Hell i just send my kids out to the mound with a magnifying glass. It keeps them busy for hours:D

I went and bought about 10 pounds of boric acid (((((ROACH PROOF)))) spread it all over the deck with a broom.. let it sit all day .. then pushed it in the cracks and it got under the deck .. I havent seen any ants yet... As an experiment I put some grits on a fire ant pile just too see what would happen...
