Jomax

Good Timing!!

I have a house to wash this Saturday. Is Jomax safe for use on stucco? Do you add anything to it?

Shawn

i have used it on stucco with good results, just add it to your regular mix if its mildew you are trying to remove.if it is red clay it will not do much for it.

Jomax is made for strenghtening the effect of bleach by adding surfactants to release dirt and produce cling. It is an excellent product and does work, however at close to $20 a gallon, you would be better off using an injector such as the "x-jet" and using more bleach and a quality alkaline soap . Bleach alone is hard to get to stay on the wall long enough to kill the mildew and it doesn't do much for dirt. Jomax takes care of those problems by adding the needed surfactants to the bleach. There are cheaper products available that produce the same results. Most any liquid laundry detergent would do the same thing. Painters swear by the stuff, probably because paint stores push it and it is safer than trying to mix your on solution and possibly damaging something.

I couldnt agree more with Les' post. While Jomax may work well........its too expensive.

And the part about the paint stores pushing it..........hit the nail right on the head.

I've used Jomax and it does work, but have found that TSP works much better when comparing the same surfaces to each other.
And TSP is cheaper as well

Just making an observation here guys. Isn't it funny that we are still resorting to the old painter's recipe using TSP & bleach. When I started in the business I used this formula but thought that it was unsafe for the environment so I stopped using it.

Just my two cents!

True...Phosphates were pulled from most detergents because of that. (Tide, etc.)

Just an odd thing here...but, TSP stands for Tri-Sodium Phosphate right?
So then there's TSP-PF which is Tri-Sodium Phosphate-Phosphate Free

OK....So why is it not just "TS"-"Tri-Sodium" on the label/name?

Gives you something to think about there ;)

There are several in my arsenal I use in particular. Sealer - Natural Cedar or Light brown ReadySeal, Wolman's New All Exterior Deck and Fence Cleaner/brightner, Sunbrites- stripper "remove" and their brightner. That brightner is "magic" stuff!! Also, like my "deckster" sprayer. If I could get my hands on some oxalic acid crystals locally I have my own formula for non-meldew fences.
