Don't worry about it bro, shit happens. It's good that you took a lot of pictures. The good news is you probably werent at fault, the bad news is your insurance company isn't going to care if they think its going to cost them more to fight it than to settle. I have one from over a year ago that was clearly not our fault but the lawyers won't go away. You will probably get a really snide letter from the insurance company along with a bill for everything that was damaged.

I am sure a guy like you has plenty of paperwork to back everything up that you do so don't lose any sleep over it and don't back down when the lawyers and insurance guys come after you, they are just trying to get whatever they can.

Just in case you are wondering, Chris and me have your back and I have a couple of guys that can take care of the insurance agents and lawyers for you.

Holy cow - that place almost burned to the ground.

Was it one of yours, did they burn wood in there, what actually happened??

Yeah, it's what's left of a Cap D's. We cleaned it last in Oct 2004. It was due for cleaning this month. I recommend 3 month cleanings, but they only opt to have it done on 6 month.

The fire appears to be electrical, and started over the drive thru window. Which is directly in front of the kitchen.

I do keep good documentation, but might need those guys to wup up on the insurance company's attorney's for me. Let me know when they're available.

The advantage for you is that they did not follow your recommendation for cleaning. I hope you have it documented. It surely must have given you a sinking feeling when you got the call...

Sorry to see that happen to any bus. but I bet your glad it happened before you cleaned and not the day after. Now if that would of happened you know who they would have been looking at.

Fire By the Drive Thru Window.. We had a Krystal Catch on fire the same way .. It was no longer our account though.. The cause of the fire was due to faulty wiring under the cash register at the drive thru.. The Fire Inspector , who is a good friend of mine told me that they had about 11 things all extinsion corded out of one outlet under the cash register , The heat built up and the crap caught on fire .. They Called us and the current hood cleaners .. We all went up to Krystal and when we got there I said I don't Clean this account anymore and since the fire didn't start under the hood what do you need from me and I was told to go home.. End of Story.. But I still take all before and after phots and got them saved on floopys and printed and in the file drawer..

It will be alright..
As long as the fire didnt start under the hood your off the hook...
Really if you think about it
The Hood Didnot catch on fire in any case ...
Most fires that start under the hoods are started by appliance fires.. If you don't clean the appliances your in real good shape..

What About the fire system did it go off
What about the sprinkler system did it work
Sounds like alot more people should be involved in this

There were about 20 different company reps out there, from the alarm company to Trane, the cooling units were theirs.

Funny thing was there was only one sprinkler, in the office to save documentation. Not one other sprinkler in the entire building.

Ansul sytem unloaded, but they weren't sure if it happened when the tank fell off of the wall or if the firemen ripped it off. One side didn't blow the caps off the pipes, I'm guessing clogged nozzles, they are bad for not putting them on if they get knocked off.

One of the fryers still had solid shortning in it from the block they dropped that night before closing.

Kind of makes a fellow think about washing houses and trucks for a livin.

BTW, John B,

It doesn't matter if the fire started in the ladies room, once it's going good it heads into the kitchen and burns the hood and up the duct. The lawyers are looking for a payday and when they get snooping the hood cleaners ins. co. and the cleaner can get burnt. There is no way to escape a prying greasy, greedy lawyer without documentation. This is where P Ackland comes in.

Amerigos had a fire last night.. We Clean the hood and do the fire system.. Here is how I handled it This Morning.. I got the call .. They said we had a fire and the system did not go off. I went over there and explained the system did not go off..because the links did not get enough heat to break them.. I kept telling the how lucky they were that the hood was cleaned last month this is the reason the whole hood did not catch on fire .. I rechecked the fire system and offered to clean the black stuff off of the hood .. I took care of it when they closed down after luch .. Changed the links again ,but they did not want the hood cleaned I made $125.00 to top it off..The fire started because someone left a frying pan of grease on the stove at night ...
I filled out te after fire report and had the manager sign it stating how the fire started . I also noted the need for a ul 300 system.. He Signed It... AMEN
