I get 3 calls a year from the BBB. Definitely pays for itself. I have never had any problems until recently. I received 1 complaint recently from a home owner that I have tried everything in my powers to make happy. He is just one of those guys you can not make happy no matter what you do. He filed a complaint and now I have to try to resolve an issue that basically can not be resolved because the home owner will never be happy no matter what I do. So when it comes to a scenario like this the BBB sucks. But other than this one issue 99% of my customers love me so I have never ever had any other problems. And I do think it helps make your website look good.

I never supported the BBB because the real impact of its value is based on the 1 complaint u may get from a nutjob. Get a bunch of great reviews but the one that stands out is the complaint even if its not legitimate. I don't believe in empowering the nutwagons out there.

WELL SAID! I am dealing with that same issue as we speak!!

Ty-- also I know a couple of guys over the years who ran into exactly what your dealing with today. If the Complaint is legitimate then of course you take care of it but after hearing stories in the past such as yours..its disturbing. There are people out there who just want to complain for the sake of complaining which makes them unreasonable and unfortunetaly a place like the BBB empowers them. You can bend over backwards and that strike may still stay with you. Also I can think of maybe a handful of times if not less that I would have received a complaint myself in 17+yrs. Those would be legitimate complaints and we took care of them but the Nutwagons??? All I can say to you---Is best of luck.

I have seen the news stories of people like chef Wolfgang Puck who got a low rating from the BBB but for a set dollar amount they would raise his rating. They also listed several other businesses that experienced the same thing. Paying for a rating makes it a pretty worthless accreditation.

And there inlays the scam as well. Their yesterday's news where the Internet was nowhere to be found. Today the BBB is being exposed and my guess there going to head to the same direction as the yellow page book. Down the toilet especially knowing there a scam and they empower the nuts out there--- no thanks.

As a funny, I had an employee that I recently fired that threatened to call the BBB on me, because I would not come down to my shop on a day we were closed to get him his check. He didn't have time to come get it when we were handing them out.

Personally, I could give less then a rip about the BBB. They are a totally useless organization that is just about putting my money in their pockets.

I'm reporting you for saying that. LOL

We maintain our membership - it's worth it but I definitely do not agree with their policies and how it is run. Unfortunately unlike the PWNA or UAMCC 99% of people DO KNOW the BBB and we have many who have checked our report. I've received a few leads over the years through their website but don't know that I've closed a single one of them. Basically if you pay their membership fees you can raise your grade by a whole letter which is total BS. I have a "competitor" around hear with 13 complaints and he maintains an A-. Something wrong with that picture!
