With Speed Weeks going on in Daytona, I wonder how many of you guys are diehard race fans. I personally love the sport and am anxiously awaiting Sundays running of the DAYTONA 500.
I have never watched a football game, golf, or a complete basketball game. I do love NASCAR. Lots of changes over the years. Was a diehard Rusty fan. Now a Kyle Bush man. Got to hang out with Larry Carter, Andy and a few others over the years. Loy Allan Jr was a local and I got to be the can man at Rockingham for him in 1995. Been to most of the tracks east of the Mississippi. With the exception of being in the pits, much better to watch the race on tv than at the track.
Loy Allen was the first rookie to win the Pole at Daytona in '94'. He finished 22nd. I think he was driving for Tri Star that year. He drove for Junior Johnson in '95' in the #27 Hooters Ford I think.
I don't get to watch all the races but I did schedule my work around the Daytona 500 this Sunday. Danica won the pole but I doubt she will even get through the first 100 laps. Just as long as Ricky doesn't wreck her is all that matters. Talk about sleeping on the couch for a few nights lol.
In 1986 I was on Lake Speeds pit crew the tire carrier and back then I carried two 70 lb tire at a time,he was driving the # 83 Wynns-Kmart Oldsmobile.
So happy to have NASCAR back, cant stand basketball or hockey and baseball has not started yet, will be watching the Daytona 500 and hoping that Danica can do well.
i first started to watch nascar about 8 yrs ago after going to dover downs and watching the race( i had gotten free tickets) Now i watch as many as i can but baseball comes first on sundays and ill pop in and out to see whats going on. I am a dale jr fan even though hes not that good. Cant stand #24.
I use to go to the Pepsi 400 and the Daytona 500 every year with a group of friends and family. We would bring the Motor homes into the infield and have a great time. I also did the Petty experience at Daytona 2 times and it was an awesome time !!
I use to make fun of NASCAR but after watching a few races it is really exciting. I like how there is so much strategy that goes behind what seems like a simple race. Plus there is something magical about sitting on the couch on Sunday drinking a Cheerwine watching the race
I don't watch as many races as I used to but at least listen to them on radio every week. I used to be a diehard Earnhardt Sr. fan and have been to 20-25 races ( Talladega, Bristol, Indianapolis, Atlanta, Memphis (when they ran nationwide) and Nashville) but after I started racing dirt stock cars 10 years ago I like the dirt racing better.
If you haven't ever been to a local dirt track, ya need to go check it out sometime!
It was a great race, the new car really made some better action. A little disappointed that you need at least 5 cars to pass (unless your JR...)
Got to go in the pits on Sunday and sign the start finish line, and the Kevin Harvick banner. At first I was tinking of signing Russ's name for him but then i changed my mind. I was expecing him to be in the top 3 at the end though.
