I had Liberty Mutual thru Joe Walters agency a year and a half ago, we recieved a letter saying they were not going to renew our insurance because we were a multi state contractor, so I moved our insurance to a local agency.

Now Liberty Mutual is saying that I am still responsible for their premiums from back then when we changed companies, I told them I was not in the habit of paying for service not provided. Did anyone else recieve this letter?

I think I would ignore the letter. I don't use Joe Walters, either.

The more I read about your insurance guys the more I like mine. :rap:

I have never heard of an insurance company that wants you to pay for unused premiums.

If you dont pay they cancel ..... right?

This lady wanted copies of our policy, cancelled checks ect.... I told her none of it was her business and that my company lawyer had agreed, she then screamed at me saying I had disrespected her and that her lawyer would be in touch with us, I politely said "I am looking forward to it" she said I was disrespecting her again, I just said have a good night, thank you! She was still ranting when I hung up the phone.

Funny thing with Joe Walter is that there are no contracts, everything is done by phone, and you send them a check and they bind coverage and send you a policy. If I dont sign I am not responsible, especially when you say you are not going to renew!

I cant waste my time wondering if I am going to have insurance or not while I am on the road or out of state.

BEST THING I EVER DID WAS MOVE TO A LOCAL AGENT! My life is much much easier.

I have called them many times since 2004 and each time got a lame excuse for not having a good price on coverage or a lame excuse for not covering the trailers and equipment or just lame conversations.

One of many, many, many reasons I like doing business here in another city, here locally they want to charge double for the same coverage.

I am very happy with Nationwide.

Does Nationwide cover more than one state? :jester:

I have One Beacon Insurance through Joe Walters and have never had a problem. I service multi-states as well. I've price shopped before and for Southern California area Joe Walters is the cheapest here.

I use a local agent....To me that's the only way to go. I've been using the same agent for 20 years and have never had a problem. If I need an Insurance Certificate, I simply email the POC, Address and fax number of the potential customer and my local agent will fax a certified copy to them within 24hrs

Liberty Mutual *ucks. I made the mistake of paying payments on Liberty mutual for worker comp a few years ago. They lost a payment (that they cashed, but put on someone else's account) then cancelled me twice while we argued about the fact that the check was already cashed!!!

Now I have a different carrier and just pay the whole amount every year.
