Industrial AC Systems

I have been asked to give a estimate on cleaning 14 AC Units. The Units are on the roof of a industrial plant. If you walk inside the unit - there is dust and a oily residue on the walls, ceiling, & floor. The ducts are not included. They want the 14 exterior units cleaned & the 14 smaller units on the interior.

How would I go about bidding something like this?

Anything to watch out for?

Thanks

bid by the hour, most likely you will have to vaccumm out all the dust first, steam cleaning them is prefferable over a lot of water volume, cover any electrical and shut off breakers.
this is nasty work,at least the ones i seen were,i charged 400 a piece for some i did and they were nasty.

Thanks

I only have cold water units.

Should I rent a steamer - Would it be a big enough savings in my labor? Cold water unit vs Steamer.

I figure - with the right chemicals, it should take about 3hrs per unit. These units are 8ft by 8ft in size. Its hard to tell.

A big jump from someone who does 99% wood restoration, but a huge opportunity. Thanks again.

If you dont allready have a steamer dont worry about it as long as your chemicals will clean satifactorily, you will just have to reclaim more water.
Good Luck

Thanks Timhays

I would also like to thank Dave Olson - spent about an hour on the phone with Dave. He is full of knowledge.

Your information is greatly appreciated.

Not response on this board, but by making this post, I have received approx. 17 emails from contractors with advice. This type of work is wide open and there is a lot of $ in it.

$397.43 per man hour and no interest

thanks for posting
