I wonder if the EPA was watching that?

The Cleaner

Vetran Washer 30 Years Plus
Where was the reclaim at Daytona after they spilled 200 gal of jet fuel on the track? Then washed it into the infield grass?

Did it stay on site? No drains leading to US waterways? lol

Micha when you bring contaminates they have to be cleaned up. Containing a spill if better than not containing, you would have to clean it up. Unlike a washing process when they are already existing and your reducing the existing material thats there.

Anyone that knowingly has a spill needs to take proper methods into consideration.

How would some of guys clean that up honestly?!?

If you do like they did, then you would use an absorbent, (not and adsorbent, like a clay product) to soak up the diesel and water. You would then follow with a bio remediation product that will clean up the remainder of the spill in the grass.

EPA would have them shut the track down, dig up all the soil for remediation and packaging, extract the asphalt and repave. With permits, watchdogs and lawsuits they should be able to finish the race by 2019

There might be a sub floor under all that? you never know, most industrial sites are built with a two foot containment under them now. It would not surprise me nascar has it.

Who needs Mobil 1? There’s enough hamburger, bratwurst, and pork chop grease around the infield garages at Daytona International Speedway to lube every pushrod, crankshaft and exhaust valve in the joint.
It may not be 200 mph, but the speed at which pit crews, officials, and media types race around the garage area can be dizzying. There’s little time to lounge and enjoy the warm Florida sunshine, let alone a proper meal. What precious minutes crew members may have between adjustments and repairs are spent refueling themselves. It doesn’t take a keen eye to see there’s plenty of fuel around - and not the Sunoco kind.

I agree with Ron on the possibility of a sub floor. Keep in mind that they just wanted to clean it up good enough to finish the race. I'm sure they had a whole crew of guys digging everything up once the race was over.

Tide is a sponsor!

Lets just say, this is Florida and leave it at that. :groucho:

Tide got some great exposure that's for sure
