I almost bought me a new truck yesterday.

But did not pull the trigger. MSRP was $58K. I had a trade on my 2006 truck that was twice what I figure I could sell it for, and a little more. I would have only had to lay out about 16k for the remainder for a brand new 2011 Lariat, diesel. I just could not get myself to pull the trigger. I doubt that I will be able to pull another deal like that, until the next time I go in that dealership.

You trying to be like me? ( Lariat) I love my 2001 Ford F350. I never drive it much but I have been lately.

I have been thinking its time to buy another. I'm just not wanting a Smaller motor.

Scarlet is a lariat. I also do not think you would be disappointed in the new diesel. They are strong runners.

I can't buy a truck for a little. I just bought the wife a GMC Yukon XL Denali this week. Back to saving money again. The good thing is I was able to pay cash for it!!!!

Cash is king.

Maybe it's just the way I was raised, but even if I could afford it, I couldn't sleep at night if I bought a $58,000.00 truck. But if I could talk them down to $20,000.00, then it would be OK, wouldn't happen though. Course I've never tried. Hahahaha!!!!!
That why I love second hand Vehicles. I love the Lariats but like any other vehicle as soon as you buy it and drive it off the lot the value drops thousands.

That aside the only new car I ever buy is for my wife.

I don't like the hunt. I hate having to go see if the vehicle is the way it was described, and then negotiate against someones sentimental attachment. Then there is always the problem of, why are they selling it? Sure it could be them upgrading, but it is oftenthe case that they are unloading it because they are starting to have problems.

I may pay full price for a truck, but I typically run them into the ground, and maintain them as well as possible. It makes a difference to me and is one of the few ways I spoil myself.

I buy new and I keep them a long time if they are running good. Three diesels in my life 550 770 and this one 300 so far are the miles.

I will likely get another Diesel again, it might not be a Ford. Just bought a New Chevy for the first time in 20 years. It was a work truck for sales, I will likely never drive it.

I have been looking randomly also...

If you get serious let me know. I found a good salesman and dealership.

We just bought another new GMC in december. I love my GMC's. I find truck with less than 10k miles on them and save a ton of money. This is what we purchased.
2010 GMC sierra SLT 4x4 5.7 gas 7000 miles(demo)
dealer wanted $23,900 we stole it for $15,900 CASH!!

Scott, get the 2011. No comparison to the 6.0. I love mine and got 19.7 mpg this weekend on a trip to Helen Ga. One of our work trucks has the 6.0 and it does a great job everyday but the 6.7 is awesome. I just hit 4,500 miles so the fuel economy will get even better.

Wow thats a steal. Those are the kind of deals I look for.

It also depends on your business to as to what works and what doesn't. I bought this Red Van yrs ago from a company in Tennessee. They have a fleet of vehicles for there business and there all red. Everyone of these Vehicles this company buys new and like clockwork they sell them as soon as they hit the 4 yr old barrier. This guys business at that time had a fleet of 40 vehicles and it made sense to me why he buys them all new.

As for me and my guys the Vehicles we use get...used. Yes we take care of them but if they were brand new just the thought of a dent in them etc. sucks then it gets easy again after that first one.

I forgot that in 97 I bought a Brand new black Dodge Dually cummins Diesel to go with my black trailer that I had. Then I had a guy who worked with me mostly on the weekends. This truck was pristine. So what happens?? I tell the guy that when he goes to do this Deck he needs to back down this street because of the way the street was and all the trees hanging low etc. It would be impossible to turn the truck around. So what does he do?? He drives down the street, does the job and then finds a way to turn the truck around. He gets back to my house and the hood of the truck is all scratched up from the branches. After that disapointment it wasnt the same if the truck got scratched again even though of course we tried not to scratch it.

I don't do half tons, and I dont do gas. If I am going with a half ton, I get a Toyota Tacoma. My trailers are all too big for me to feel comfortable with a half ton.

Wow thats awesome. I haven't exactly bought a ton of vehicles in my life...two to be exact, if you don't mind me asking for tips, how do you negotiate a deal like that? Is it just a matter of asking for a ridiculous number and seeing what sticks? Just straight up walk in and offer half or something?

Charlie Jim had 3 magic things in there. First off it was a demo so there is a deal there. Then this is big because the dealers need to get there numbers for the year done and when you buy a Vehicle right before the year runs out you can get a monster of a deal....and lastly Jim paid with that magic paper thats good most everywhere and there will be no repo men or bank de-fault involved. The magic paper is what OBAMA is printing up like its nothing Cold hard cash

Yes John is exactly correct! I started looking in november to see what trucks dealers had left on the lots. I knew I was going to wait until the end of the month of December to buy. This specific dealer was going to change hands on Dec 15. That said if they didnt make that last sale that night they would hand over inventory for almost nothing to the other dealer buying them out. I was there that night 3 hours before closing with CASH! The truck I was looking at was sold that day before we got there. Bummer! I talked to the sales guy and he offered another truck. You know me I told him I was going to keep looking at another dealer THANKS and walked out! I didnt get far and they wanted to know how much I would give them for the other truck. I told him I didnt want that one. Accually I did but I didnt want to tell him that. I told him I wouldnt need any financing and would pay him tonight $15k. He told me I was nuts. OK see ya. Manager wanted to talk and we agreed on $15900. Thats how it all went down. Easy!
