How old is too old

A fellow stopped me the other day while I was working and was asking questions about the PW business. He was about to get laid off from his job of 35 years at a major corp with some money to take him down the road. No gold watches, anymore! He was thinking of getting into this business, solo. I told him to go for it. However, on second thought he's 59 going on 60, not a real young guy! That and a post between Scoot and Zippo, got me thinking, what's the oldest that a man is still actively pursuing business as a PWer? What point is it time to go away and sit on the front porch or become a greeter at Walmart?

That is a example of the type of question that has no right or wrong answer. I am 57 and I am sure some guys think that 40 is to old, thus it depends on the person and his actions.

General Chuck Yeager is 80 plus and still flying the F-16 and does not wear glasses. Is he as fit as someone in his 30's-Yes. Could he work one our skids?

It's not the age, it's the physical and mental limitations and drive that people may or may not have.

Another example on the lines of Chuck Yeager is Jack LeLane he's 85 this year. I think he was pulling large boats across lakes in his mid-seventies.

The attached photo (not a great picture) shows Bill Sauter of the Spokane, WA. Coast Guard Auxiliary pulling a boat behind his rowboat across the lake. It doesn't sounds like much until you've tried it. Bill is 80 in this photo.

AGE is only a number, I was in my late 50s when I started this business.

As others said it is the physical and mental state of person.

Part of my work is done at Edwards AFB and I've seen Yeager many times. He used to be able to come and grab an F16 anytime he felt like playing. Haven't seen him around for awhile now though.

As for the subject of this Thread, if you do the right things to take care of yourself then age is truly a mental thing. But if you run a pressure washer mostly full time for 26 years it has a way of WEARING YOUR BUTT DOWN.

Chuck are you admitting your getting "old"?

Need I drive up there and help you because your tired old body cannot do the work anymore, please don't make me do that to you.

:D

BRING IT!!!

But maybe you should bring your lovely wife, cause you'll need somebody to drive you home after I'm done with you....

Oh, Boo, you talk so tough!!!

Too MANY COMMENTS, AND NONE OF THEM IN GOOD TASTE.

Hell and I thought I was on my best behavior....

Of course you know the "real me" though don't you?

Scott you tell him, he won't listen to me.

I know what you can do so I was surprised that Chuck told me he out worked you, guess he was um, ah, well bragging again :)

IS IT TRUE, Scott?

Would love to bring the wife Chuck but she won't drive the pickumuptruck.

Nah, he was talking to me....

I'll let Scott answer your "truth be told" question because apparantly all of my remarks these days are in "bad taste"!!!

She doesn't drive a pickup huh? hmmmmmmm... I'm sitting here trying to picture life with a woman who won't drive a pickup...

HIM

I have to admit that I was a little tired that day, after pushing him around in his wheel chair, lifting him into the trailers to clean, and keeping his boys in line. Of course, it is kind of rough getting old. Maybe he can expain how come he was falling asleep at dinner, oh wait, the waitress was kind of cute. Must have been hoping for some mouth to mouth. You know, when you are old, you have to do what you can.

Scott you sure know how to get us laffin.

That was to much, I cracked up loud enough Remy came running in to see what was wrong.

Poor Chuck :)

If you saw what he looked like, you would understand...:(
