I handle most of the power washing jobs myself, however I do sub alot of gutter cleanings and installations.

I have had several people ask me if they could do sub work for me (brick cleaning). I won't do it because (1) I don't want to give them my methods, which are different than anyone in the area, (2) I don't trust that they will do it right - potential for disaster is high, and (3) my liability insurance would be significantly higher.

We don't sub anything out. All jobs are done by See Dirt Run employees, and Rod trains all of them himself. Homeowners in our area prefer that employees do the work. Many have had bad experiences with subs.

We have another local PW contractor that we work with on occasion here in town. We try to work together instead of against each other. So a couple times a year when he have a job that might need 5 or 6 rigs at once at it we will team up with him to knock it out fast.

I have subbed to four (relatively) local guys. I would use all of them again. They have to be: insured, in business for a couple of years, have a website, and have referrals. If something is out my area I just pass the lead onto someone else.

I have subbed off and on in the last 15 years, and i always wind up regretting it. No one will take care of your accounts as you will, sometimes it will come back to bite you in the ASS !!

This is how I like to operate at well, however I have to trust them as well,
if I get a bad feeling when I meet someone, I probably won't work with them

Biggest problem subbing work out....quality.

Biggest problem subbing from...getting paid.

Subcontracting should always be subjective to demands of the 'cleaned' and the 'cleaner'

I would love to sub out roof cleaning the problem would be if I sunb to some local what are the odds they would sub for 200 dollars a house ...not good when they realize the job is in their market territory

I have sub when I am short on labor. I find it better for everyone concerned than hiring someone for a month or so and then letting them go.

I also sub when the jobs are just to little for me and / or there is allot of traveling..... a 150 mile route for example. We do train the sub's to our cleaning methods and procedures. The sub is required under contract to comply.

I do inspect the jobs on-site or randomly. If not done to our standards, the sub has to do it again with no pay on the second cleaning. The customer or myself will make that determination on if the job is clean enough. If more than 2 times a year there are any problems, I fire the sub.

In 19 years of doing business, I have only had to fire 1 sub contractor. My subs make 55k to 75k or more. Yes they get 1099 at the end of the year.

I am thinking of subbing and have also been a sub. The guy who I am thinking of subbing to has superior equipment and is, I hate to say it a better washer than I am. What I do like to say is that he can give my clients a better job in less time. That gives me more time to worry about getting more jobs and give my clients more attention other than just doing the job. As for being a sub another friend of mine that has pressure washing clients already is somewhat trying to work his way out of having to pick up a gun. So he subs me out I do the job we both make a penny. Like earlier posts say there are benefits and pitfalls to subbing. I just hope it doesn't bite me in the ass. Mine is sensetive.

Cameron call me when you have an oppornity to.
