How does apple cider effect copper?

Kinda what I figured. I've been soaking with water then tarping with a ladder. Always wanted a scrap piece to see what happens. So an old house with copper flashing or counter flashing is a no too? What do you do cut it in with a cardboard edger or pass on the job? Thanks for the response.

Here is what we do, we tell them we COULD PW their roof instead, LOL
We wet the copper down during the cleaning.
I have cleaned many a roof with copper.
It does mess up the "patina", but so did Hurricane Katrina :p

That's it? No covering etc? Just messes with the copper oxidation, discoloration? I didn't know how it reacted chemically. Should a tried a penny I guess. If they are still made with copper that is.

According to Wikipedia (and we all know that wikipedia is the be-all end-all when it comes to reliability) but I'm sure you could find a more reliable source within just a couple of minutes of looking. It appears the penny is copper coated zinc. 97.5% zinc, 2.5% copper.

Richard, I have seen a few houses with have similar copper ornamentation over their windows, just as in the pic you posted. Check to see if it is clear coated. If it is, the 'cider isn't gonna hurt it.

I heard the other day that the cost to make a penny is 1.3 cents. I think they're also worth ,more in weight than they are in face value.
Jeff

Only the pre 84 or so. Like posted earlier they are mostly zinc now.
