Put new rules in place.
Implementing a hybrid icing call where the official can blow the puck dead if the defender obviously is going to touch the puck first once players reach the face-off dot.

Yep that what is says!! Oh my my, let's not make contact during a hockey game! WTF?? It's Hockey ...

And it gets worse take a look at what they what to do to the Over Time

And get this the one pushing this is Brendan Shanahan!! :thud::thud::thud:

If your a Wing"nut ....are you feeling uncomfortable with this?

Lou,
I'm a huge hockey fan, have been for years (just not a fan of the wings, blackhawks, stars, or avalanche). If you look at the changes they're proposing, non of them concern contact of any sort. The icing rule is so teams won't kill the clock. The other stuff is to help the ref's get it right (they can use all the help they can get!!)

Having followed hockey from the mid 70's when there were hockey games that broke out during fist fights on the ice. I can say that you will see over the next 10 years the "civilization" of hockey.
The owners now have so much money tied up in the Sidney Crosbys and Alex Ovechkins that they are protecting them by putting rules in place that tame the game down.
Look at what Bobby Orr and Maurice Richard and Mike Bossy did can you imagine them on the ice today.
I think it really started with Wayne Gretzky and the fact they hired Dave Semenko to "protect" thier investment in edmonton. They found Gretzky was so fast he did not need protection. With Ovetchkin they had Donald Brashear till they realized Ovechkin hits as hard or harder than almost any player out there.

Fighting on skates is a real art!

I agree with all of the above except to say that Mike Bossy was a major puzzy when it came to fighting and playing rough. He was a great Hockey scorer one of the all time best but also probably the biggest puzzy on the Islanders back then. There was a reason why he won a few Lady Bing awards..because he had a ...... :nanner:

I loved Probert. I would always love to have a guy like that as a friend or a fellow player because you know he will be there for you at all cost. My type of guy who even could score once in awhile.
