How do you handle your estimates?

Do you sit down with the home owner and discuss how you came about your estimated price?

Do you measure and figure out what needs to be done and the time it will take to complete the job, then sit in your vehicle crunch numbers and hand it to the home owner with some explanation ?

Do you do all the above then tell the home owner you will call them or e mail them your estimate?

Or other?

Everything except the last part. We do all of the above then ask for a signature and when they want to start. Closing ratio will go way up asking for the business on the spot. Avoid having to call or email to close.

So Mr and Mrs Home owner all you need to do now is to sign the contract so we can get started with your project

Use something like "agreement" instead of contract. Words matter and contract sounds scary.

I sit down and go over the entire job with the customer seperating every little detail, our insurance, our certifications, pictures, stories and so on until they beg me for the cost. Then I just hand them the pen and they usally sign.

I do as many of my residential estimates over the internet as possible. If I happen to be in the area, if a customer doesnt want an email est or if a home is extremely large Ill look at it in person.

My closing percentage is around 60%. I know there is alot of room for improvement there but its as high as it was last year AND Im not wasting alot of valuble time and fuel chasing small leads.
