How do I set this pump up to allow bypass back to the water tank? [pic]

okay. i've already bought the barbs and hose I just didn't want do disconnect anything I shouldn't have. So just to be clear, once I disconnect the hose from the inlet, what will take place of the old equipment seen in the picture? will i need to buy something to plug that hole?

Either buy aplug or replace the whole assembly. If it were mine I would replace the whole assembly.Putting a plug in that hole is just another place for water to leak. I hate water leaks! James please fill out your signature. House rules.

Yeah they put loctite on the threads or something. I cut the hose off and used the same barb that's on the unloader. Then I took the filter off and replaced it with a garden hose adapter with 1/2 " threads. They have them at home depot. If you are hooking up to a tank, then replace the filter assembly with a barb.

has anyone put small buffer tank on for just unloader.

I've got a suggestion...do away with that restrictive inlet filter, get a large canister style, and use barb and clamps for hook ups. While you're at it, run another chunk of hose to the other side of the pump and feed it too.

Dual feed. Run a feed hose to each side of the pump.

Add another nipple to the opposite side on the existing inlet.
Search dual feed. There plenty of pics abd discussions.

I got that restrictive filter off and replaced it with a canister style filter like everyone suggested. I replaced that fixture with a garden hose adapter. I guess my only issue now is that the water pressure from the tank to the inlet of the pump isn't enough to purge air from the line, meaning water does not flow from the end of the wand. I imagine that the problem is that the bulkhead that came with the tank isn't letting enough water to flow out of the hole, at least not enough pressure to move through the entire system. I'll work on that today, unless anyone has suggestions on how to remedy this water tank pressure issue...?

My wording must have been poor. It is polybraid tubing from the tank to the inlet of the pump, with a canister filter in between, all secured at each end with a clamp. I bought a new inlet barb today and also re-secured all the threads on each part and there is still no water working its' way through the system. Back to your quote, tomtuscon, you are saying that I should run the machine with no hose connected? I must not be understanding you correctly because wouldn't that damage everything inside the pump?
Sorry for the noobish questions...just trying to get this system working.

I think he means a hose on the outlet side. That's a belt drive so it should have some suction. Make sure your tank is filled way over the bulkhead fitting. You could also try turning the throttle down to prime the pump easier. If that fails you have a leak somewhere, that's not connected tight enough. OR check all screens for debris.

I would not use polybraid hose as it will collapse easily when the pump is running and is easy to kink. If the machine is 5gpm or larger I would run 1" hose from the tank to the fitting at the pump, a reducer at the pump is not a problem.
You can have the pressure hose with no gun so it is open just to try the machine to see if any water is flowing but don't run it a long time.
