How Cold Is Too Cold

Residential and Commercial Pressure Washing Specia
It's supposed to be 31 tomorrow night and 30 Monday night in Mobile Alabama. At what temperature do you stop working? When it gets that cold do I risk damage to my equipment or do you think there are liability issues due to ice on sidewalks?

We stop when it won't stay above freezing long enough to let the runoff evaporate. Evenings are out because of the falling temps. When it stays below freezing for weeks at a time the ground freezes and even when the air temp gets warmer the water still freezes when it hits the concrete. Tough 3-4 months up here.

The property managers are very cautious and so are we. It's one thing to slip and fall because of mother nature. But a man made hazard is a tough defense in a law suit.

IMO it's too cold, and it could be a liability issue.

I just got done washing down a parking area, trying to remove oil stains which I suck at, I worked while it was snowing, dark, and on one of the most crime infested streets in LR from what i'm told. The wind was blowing so hard all I could see was white. Anyone know a good way to get off unsightly oil stains? I tried a caustic powder, left it for several hours while we did two other jobs, came back and worked on it tonight. Still almost as bad as it was.

Yeah, I'm using hot water, I put down a powder that is 20 percent caustic, and sprayed water on it with a pump sprayer. Let it sit several hours. Any better suggestions?

I'm not sure about your powder it may be fine. We several people use caustic soda beads. Do a search for chemical recipes and there you will find a cook book for chemicals with the mixtures. I am still pretty new to this so you may know a lot more than I do, but maybe this will help......good luck

If you use the caustic soda beads with mixture from the cook book make sure to rinse well and don't use around asphalt. Do another search for caustic soda beads and you will find some of the dangers..hope this helps

Thanks, so you use caustic soda beads and it seems to get oil stains up? How much of the stain is left?

I have worked at night when it was 25 degrees. As long as it will be above freezing in the morning and I am using hot water I don't worry about it too much. Just make sure you anti freeze your equipment when done.
