Hot & Mighty pressure washer imported to UK

M-CLEAN UK

New member
I have just bought a secondhand Hot & Mighty pressure washer from George Podell (American), imported into the UK about three years ago. Originally in a trailer it is now sitting in one of my vehicles. With just 230 hours on the clock it is barely used and I am really pleased with it.

Now the question is we do not really have anything like these in the UK, Certainly not the build quality etc but it has a 24hp Lombardini engine and a General Pump (equivalent to an Interpump in the UK) @ 19 litre per minute and 3000psi. When it is on single operator the flow and psi is fine but on twin operator the flow is not up to scratch and with the assistance of my service people we are going to upgrade the pump to a 45lpm, giving 22lpm when two people are using it and putting a return to tank just before the heater to control the amount of water going through the heating coil.

If a pressure washer has a 24hp engine why would such a small pump be fitted.

Many thanks

Secondly

Because we don't really have anything like these in the Uk how do they rate, are they any good, are there any problems with them etc

45 lpm may be pushing it. You may want to settle around 30 - 35 lpm.

I've been back up to the service people today to collect another machine that needed a new gearbox and we got back onto the capability of the engine, of the Hot & Mighty. When we did the calculation for the pump we knew it was near maxxed so I have settled for the 35lpm. Just having a heater chimney & cowl fabricated for Friday and this will be fitted to the van but have just been called to some works on a supermarket four hours away.

Are there any thoughts on the Hot & Mighty - Is it a good bit of kit, run of the mill or other???

I have been runing one for over a year. Got it by a repo sale with 100 hrs on it. It sat for a year before I got it, changed the gas, spark plug. I have change the fuel pump. Got the honda and GP been good to me.

Had a Hot and Mighty for awhile last year. Was very happy with it and there service. I got it when I bought a guy's business out and any time I had a question Tom was always very helpful by phone.

That's a diesel unit?

Ron

Been busy working at three locations, for the last four days. Yes it is a diesel unit! I'm just having the vehicle sign written, a new flexi chimney went into it last week and then it will be ready to hit the work. The pump upgrade will happen over the winter!

Again

Been busy at various places around the country. I will get a couple of photos today, I'm fitting the engine exhaust to the chimney and then it will just need some heat wrap and finished.

Will post the pics over later.

Piece of flexihose. I have just finished putting the exhaust wrap on and now just need to spray it over with the sealer.
