I've been in business for myself pretty much my whole life. I live in south Alabama and have a great opportunity of opening a pressure washing business. I have established many contacts(property manager's, business oweners, real estate agents...etc...etc) and there seems to be no respectable business in the area, as i have had to call someone 50 miles away and been through headache after headache trying to get my mother's pool patio washed. Sure you have you're "average joe's" that use cheap equipment, may or may not show up,con men, and part time uneducated guys looking to make a quick buck. I'm pretty much guarenteed quite a few residential vaction houses.(my girlfriend is a property manager for a large vacation rental business, not counting other contacts I've established) My problem is I need equipment and advice. I have a vechile capable of towing a trailer (jeep rubicon). So I need Insurance, business license, washer and chemicals. What kind of pressure washer would you guys recommend? I'm going to be washing mainly beach houses on stilts(hardi plank, vinyl, stuco) and the down stairs patio area. What kind of chemicals should I use? Who's a good supplier? Hot or cold water? Is there anyone on the board within a few hours of me that I could travel to help train me for a fee? These houses have to be done fairly quickly and I need to get moving on this, but I have to be able to provide good service and excercise proffesionalism that the other guy's don't offer. I want to do this right and don't want to give the industry a bad name. Any advice at all will help.

Welcome to the board.

Signatures are required so fill yours out, look up where it says "user cp" and click there and go to the area for signatures and fill it out. After posting and you do not see a signature there, go back and see what did not work.

There are many, many, many years of great information here, nobody can tell you what you want to hear in a post or two, time to get to reading.

Just about any question you have can be answered with the search button, just type in what you are trying to learn about, try one word or two words or more, 95% of the questions you will ask.....the answers are there.

Not trying to be rude but a lot of people come here demanding that people help them and that is not the way it works, you do some searching and try and then when you really need the help, it will come.

Those that help themselves will be helped, those that want to be
bottle-fed will be ignored.

Other than that, have a great time here, tons and tons of great information here and great people too.

I would check into the PWI Round Tables and try to attend them if you possibly can. There are meetings throughout the year... throughout the US that you can attend.

At these meetings, you can meet with distributors, contractors, and other people that are have many years of experience in this field.

As Chris said, this board is packed full of information that is free for the asking... no one has, or ever will, asked you for one red cent to pay...

Of course, some of the Round Table meeting have a nominal fee to attend ( less than $50 )... compared to others.... no brainier...

Hi Christopher, I've dabbled in the search area a bit and plan on utilizing that feature as it seems very effective. I was just trying to see if anyone had any pointers or if anyone would be willing to train for a fee. I hope I didn't come across demanding and apoligize if I gave that impression. Sorry about the signature card, it should be taken care of. Thank's for the advice

I would start a new thread about wanting to train with a contractor, I know a few that are not too far from you that will train you for a fee, I don't want to mention any names to protect their privacy but put a new thread out there and people will respond to you.
