Heat question from newbie

I keep reading on hot water on flat surface work and how the heat will leave snake marks on the grass. How much (time) dose the heat help? When doing driveways with a s/c with grass and heat dose that kill the grass after the edger or trim marks? I know that the chemicals are my best friend but can the heat alone do the same job without chemicals? To avoid heat burning on the grass has any one tried insulating the hose possibly with pool floaty noodles? Just newbie questions. Trying to learn till some schooling comes to Fl. Or I can get a ride along with one of the pros. Heck I'd buy the crew lunch and it would be a lot better than McDonalds that's the least I could do.

You really don't need heat on residential drives. If you do for oil stains, make sure the hose goes up the drive from the road and dose not lay in the grass.

I've never really had issues with heat hurting the grass but I don't crank it up too high on residential, maybe 160~170 and try to keep off grass. I do use heat on really nasty driveways like the picture attached and it definitely helps but I still use a strong housewash mix too sometimes before or after or both.

Heat can/will shock the grass and make it go dormant like a summer heat wave. However if it is watered regular and it is a little cooler it wont do anything.. but when its dry and hot I would expect them. You can run your hose along the edge of sidewalks and in planters over mulch etc then there is nothing to worry about. Either way the marks will go away after a few weeks the grass will recover and they will never be able to tell it happened.
