So I've got pneumonia. I've had it for about 4 days now. Thankfully I've got competent people working for me who can keep everything going.

I researched the symptoms and determined that I needed antibiotics and some decent cough medicine with codeine.


If this was 60 years ago I could have just gone to the drug store, picked up what I needed and been on my way. For about $8.

Flash forward to this pathetic mess we've made of our country and our freedoms today......

I have VA health coverage. I try my best to use it as little as possible. That's just the way I was raised. After two days I call them and tell them "I have pneumonia, all I need is some antibiotics and cough medicine" and try to get a walk-in appointment. After trying all day I give up. They tell me I have to go to the emergency room.

So Yesterday I went to the emergency room and told them "I have pneumonia, all I need antibiotics and cough medicine".

After hour upon hour of sitting and waiting in a bed (no blood tests, nothing but listening to my lungs with a stethoscope) they come to me and say "You have pneumonia, all you need is antibiotics and cough medicine."

How many thousands of dollars do you think my trip to the emergency room cost you? Your business? Your family?

And for what? To make sure I can't treat myself and bypass the "system" that rakes in all the money?

Our generation bought and paid for this stupidity. We are the failures. We failed our parents by not learning the value of freedom from them and we failed our kids who will never know freedom.
 
Tony the whole thing is a waste of time and money, but they do it that way for one reason. If they let you get what you needed on the phone without going to the emergency room and was wrong and you died, they could easily have an expensive lawsuit. By having you go to the emergency room they allowed an insured doctor to determine what you needed and what to do from there.

Health care is kinda free up here, people go to the emergency room for everything because it is free.

All propaganda started by the only people who make money off that that kind of crap. Those guys on TV all night instructing you to call them if someone looks at you the wrong way so you can be compensated for your inconvenience.

There is a simple fix for this. It's called LOSER PAYS.

If the loser always pays all expenses that would wipe out 90% of the ambulance chasers in the country and almost 100% of the frivolous lawsuits.
 
I think another simple answer that would get rid of the attys and the government out of our business would be a no-fault clause for unlicensed work and products.

What if a government monitored pharmacy sold highly regulated products and another pharmacy chose to opt out and sell anything to anybody with a simple waiver of rights to sue.

Which ones do you think would last in a true capitalistic society?

Think about that one for a while.

Then apply it to doctors, Hvac companies, etc.

I know which ones would get my business. Word would travel fast on the bad ones and the free market would eliminate them. The good ones would thrive.

That is how this country was built. Till politicians and lawyers ruined it.

Jim health care has always been for profit. Even the farm doctors traded for chickens.

There is nothing wrong with profit. Its the profiteering off the doctors backs that kills it.

Fayths birth was $6k cash. It was negotiated as soon as she found out she was pregnant and she spent two days in the hospital.

Jill has one more payment of under $300 and the birth of my next grandchild is paid for two months before the due date.

If it wasn't profitable they wouldn't negotiate.

Why is that?

Because there is no insurance middleman buying a new boat off of it. There are no codes the insurance companies can use to deny payment.

Get the lawyers and insurance companies out of the mix and we could all afford health care.

When I was in Orlando a couple weeks ago, I started getting a cough. I could tell instantly that the cough was Bronchitis as I seemed to get it about once every 1 or 2 years. I called my Doctor and asked them to call in a zpac for me. They called me back and had called in 2 other medicines, both of which did nothing.

It wasn't until Craig Harrison got there, and said come on we're taking a ride. Doug, glad I could help. Basically all pharmaceutical drugs are made to copy things found in nature.

Oil of oregano is nothing short of AWESOME. It's got to be the P73 Wild Oregano strain and there's several ways to use it.
