Had My First Recession Job Loss Today

Yep I lost not one but two Properties from the same owner today, The Owner himself called me and went around the PM to let me go Jan 1- 09 He was a very nice guy and called me himself because he loves our work. They are going to try to Clean it them selfs LOL both Sweeping and Washing but I don't think it is going to work out very well and they will be back. The shopping center has a Big Food Chain in it and they will not like it looking like Dung and it will in about a week from all the sand blowing in from the desert here and the sidewalks get Real Dirty fast. The other is a Warehouse that is a Pig Pin in about a weeks time and I mean it gets to be a mess and there is not way a pan and broom is going to clean it up LOL.

He said he maybe calling me back if they can't handle it and they won't, But he was very nice and gave me the call to let me know that the tenents are having a hard time and can't pay the rent so they had to cut everybody back until they can figure wout what to do. Signs of our times I guess I hope stuff turns a round here sooner then later...
 
Just lost filter service at a strip mall. The PM said the average rent a tenant is behind is two months. One of them is behind 8 months. They're not kicking them out because They're already half empty and there's no one looking to lease the property anyway.
My Friend pays 18k/mo at an upscale new mall. He's behind 3 months right now.

BTW, Reno was my first choice when we left Sioux Falls over ten years ago, but my wife wanted the HEAT!
 
Heat LOL well we only have it 4 months of the year so she would not like it here.

Yea he said people were not making their rent right now so they are cutting back and I hope not to many cut back, I just got a new truck and have payments to make on it now, This stuff makes me uneasy and I just hope things turn around here soon. I don't know if it will be I will hold on for the ride I guess.

Hang tight and keep looking for more work. 2009 may be a rough year for many. Get out there and hustle up some more work. wish you and all of us best of luck

Sounds like you may get this one back eventaully

I lost 3 big dealerships that I took care of on a monthly basis this past summer and Durango Steak House when they closed all their locations. One of the Rest- locations actually became another resturaunt and has already closed it's doors. Sucks! Those were pretty good monthly incomes for me. All of this happened right before my wife was laid off from her job due to cutbacks. It hasn't been easy trying to recoup from the blows. :( Hang tight! Hopefully it will get better.

Good advice. We are hitting the streets trying to pickup as many jobs as possible right now. Many say that 2009 is going to be very rough.

No Doubt !!!!! We have been having a hard time picking up any work lately. We have heard the same thing, we will be doing it ourselves? As laughable as that is, thats there way of telling us the fund's are just not there? :eek:

Hustling is what you got to do to get the work.

I actually started calling my PM's this week to line up more winter work. I do it every year. I just call them and say hey its a little slow in Jan & Feb do you have any projects for us. Today I just got 10, 3&4 story buildings for Jan and another 6 building townhome. Plus during the call she said she was going to call me they have 10 buildings need gutter cleaning. Monday I called another and got 14 buildings and several garage buildings for Jan. Sometime the best way to get work is call your old customers and just ask.

The 14 buildings I have been trying to get them for a few months, finally put it in their budget

I am a true believer in going and getting the work....call, write, fax

I was told Arizona was a good R/T, but so far nothing compares to the M/B R/T. That was a great time Jeff, say hi to Lisa for me.
 
Thanks Guys, I have been working so many hours the last few weeks and no days off I guess if I loose two it won't hurt me right now. I'm tired and the one place is a real mess it gets so dirty in 1 weeks time that I won't miss it at all only the money LOL But good things will come along soon, I have one coming online in the next two months just waiting for it to be compleated and it's a nice new center so all is good. I just hope no others start having problems now :eek:

Mike, Maybe you could just bring your camera when you come so I can just look at the pics of The Big One in your camera seeing as how they can't find their way out. :D

I lost a gas station / convienance store chain for 09 with pretty much the same story line. It is what it is...

We need to make sure we have time to get out on the gulf, and yes larry you are invited.
