Great Roof Cleaning Tool-Help Ground man reduce liability

I actually added some 10ft sections so my ground guys could reach 2nd and 3rd stories without help from the roof guy.

This is a priceless tool thats saved me alot of problems.

I usually tape down the gutter opening and wash off the collected mix so it gets out of the gutter evenly on the ground and not concentrated where the gutter downspout is. I use 8GPM pressure washer with 40 size, 0degree or wider tip to water down plants and push the runoff out of the gutter. It's faster and safer for the ground guy, so he can avoid being sprayed with mix. Weaker mix and repeating the roof is always my preferred method. Strong mix had killed instantly some plants even with good instant water bath. We have done houses worth over $1.5 million with landscaping tens of thousands $$$ where a garden hose water capacity would be very difficult to control the runoff and too risky especially with such low water pressure as here in Florida. I may not mastered the technique that the Tampa guys have :), but more water flow definitely makes the job a lot easier.

Gutter downspout roll-out hose to direct the runoff out of the grass/plant area would be in big help as well.

I don't clean roofs anymore. I have guys who do it so I've had to find ways to make it fool proof. Trusting a $10 -$12 an hour guy to properly empty gutters and use a PW properly is unlikely without supervision.

The big problem we had was AFTER we left, the residual chemical would run out into the grass or bushes and kill stuff. This prevents that 100% and with no real effort. Also a good way for the roof guy to get a quick drink of water. :)

I agree with you :). It's not just the roofs, but anything else. Trusting an employee and establishing a good and long lasting relationship with mutual respect is the hardest thing in any business in my opinion.

This is an old pic. I have tons of roof pics, but need to resize and watermark them first. We have done commercial roof cleaning for shopping center during the night which was pretty interesting project. I have pics, I'll post later. I dont have pics of pushing the mix out of the gutter but its pretty self explanatory I think.
The gutter downspout hose looks like this (not my pic, found it on google):

Any soft hose that could be zip-tight to the gutter downspout will do the job.

You can see by the image what tremendous advantage is the bigger water flow as far as watering the grass and the plants.
I'll try to find a pic of $1.2 mil house in Coral Gables, around 5000 sq. ft. , tile roof, where the previous roof cleaner passed on the job because of the landscaping, but we did it with NO damage at all. I wouldn't take the risk either if I had only garden hose water.
