I was recently e-mailed from www.bidradar.com for $9.95/month they will send me daily any info pertaining to gov't contracts that are available daily to be bid on.

Does anyone belong to this site and do they think its worth it by joining?

Also has anyone landed any Gov't contracts from this site?

to my knowledge govt. contracts require buisnesses with a lot of capital, one job may need thirteen men with just as many machines all requiring waste reclaim, some contracts go into the millions of of dollars,of course coming out of your pocket at first, and waiting months before getting paid.

not to mention the forms and software (supplied by the gov. to invoice off of) will require a full office staff to prepare and submit.

providing you can accept these terms than the fee for notifying you of these opportunities would be a feasable one.

the best thing to do is find the main contractor responsible for environmental cleanup and subcontract from them.

just my two cents.

try WWW.fedbizopps.gov for the federal business opportunities. There are a lot of contracts out there, but in all reality most contract cleaning opportunities are in municiapl and state governments. There are quite a few oportunities for building washing, and the only ones that get posted are for $25,000 and over. They also like to pay by credit card. In fact they prefer it. As for the special forms and such, Not in my experience.

To do biz with Federal Gov. you have to be registered withthe Central Contractor Registration:

http://www.ccr.gov/index.cfm

This will require a DUNS Number and a Cage Code.

All the credit cards that I have dealt with have not been able to charge over 2500 at one time If the total cost of a job is less than 2500 they do not even have to bid it out, other wise they are supposed to get or at least try to get 3 bids.

As far as special software, I have not needed it.

I lost one contract years ago because we did not have a huge amount of money in the bank, they actually wanted more liquid assets then what the contract was worth.

BidRadar, I got there Solicitations every day for a couple of years, seen some interesting stuff, but most of the time was out of my area of travel. And if you did not get to your email right away it was a pain to go down thru it.

I know a number of the purchasers used the yellow pages when they need stuff done.

Good luck

When I first started in Pressure Washing I filled out about a 20 page application to wash Government Postal Vehicles. You specify the miles you're willing to travel and when a location comes up for bid they send you another 20 page application, and you send in your bid. When you realize that it's a pretty safe bet that you've lost the bid there's a number you can call where they will tell you the amounts that the lucky winner bid. Sometimes it's as low as 50 cents per vehicle, and it's usually a mop and bucket brigade doing the work. Hope those people have raised their prices cause it's been awhile since I was on that list.

I had a 10 year run on a contract with the Navy and am currently doing one for the Air Force but it's all administrated by another company. The Armed Forces do it this way because they want strong control over where the money's going, and Harlyns right, you have to register in a few places, and you're gonna be bidding at least every 2 years (sometimes more often) to keep doing the work. Sometimes if you're lucky though they will make you what's called a "Single Source".

Never been asked to take a credit card, but I know they do it that way sometimes.
