I went to get a tag for my trailer and hinds county said they were out until mid july.. Cop pulled me over .. Pretty nice guy .. Thank God I had my seatbelt on and everything else was up to date..I told him and he said they really need to give you a peice of paper saying you applied for a tag.. I agree.. He let me go but said I need to contact the tag place and tell the I need a tag,,, I was thinking about using my inlaws address and getting a trailer tag in Yazoo they have them and it will be about 20.00 less there.. What do you think ?? You ever had your county run out of trailer tags ??

California no longer requires annual stickers for trailers if you register it as a "PTI, Permanent Trailer Identification". You register it once and get a PTI sticker then every 5 years you get a bill for $20.00 and no new stickers.

I think this guy thought I was crazy when I told him that hinds county ran out of trailer tags .. but when the second cop pulled up he walked by and said that he had a friend that said the same thing about hinds county no having any trailer tags until mid july... I got lucky.. I guess they ran out of trailer tags because Mississippi really started enforcing the trailer tag law.. However on a sad note the last time I bought a trailer tag for my little 10 ft trailer in jackson it was 85.00 dollars..
I guess my big question is since I paid like 343.00 for my truck tag and now going to pay 85.00 for a trailer tag ... Who is going to fix the road where I live , the road that has all but destroyed the trailer and machine???

Now if we want to talk bad cops , go to a really small town like I did a few years back and get a ticket for no having your insurance info on you are in your vehicle.. Not that I didnt have it but that it was not on me are in the vehicle it was a whole day wasted and 500.00 fine.. Judge said maybe next time you come thru our town you will have your insurance info.. I said I only have one account here that I will not service again and I will not be coming back thru your town.. He said we can add contempt charges..

Went through the same thing here in Indiana. The BMV finally switched software it paid millions for and had for several years but was afraid of the change over problems. Sounds like our government at work huh? Even the cops couldn't pull up DL numbers for traffic stops. The BMV issued a form for me to show cops. Had to take another few hours off to go back.

My wife got 2 seatbelt violation tickets in our local burg in two years. Last year she got t-boned by a guy that ran a stop sign. Totaled her car but didn't hurt her. The cops didn't even write the guy a ticket! 2- tickets for something that may hurt you and no ticket for something that could kill people.

Go figure.

Do you still have the tag for your 10ft trailer? Put some wing nuts on it and move it to whichever trailer your pulling that day!

In Arizona, the trailer falls under the mounted equipment law, so techinically, tags are not required on a pressure washing trailer. I still buy tags, but seldom put them on, and have only been pulled over once in 18 years for no tags, and talked to the guy about the statute and he let me go.

I have held off registering my trailer. After I read your post I called my county tax collector and asked about the mounted equipment. I got the same answer, no registration required in my county in Florida for mounted equipment. She compared my PW trailer to a tool box. Why should I have to register my "toolbox" to get it to a jobsite. Works for me. Thanks for the input.
