Good thing these ducts were NFPA 96 compliant

Here is a great case for following NFPA 96 standards for grease ducts. I got a call from a guy today say ing that he had a fire and could I come look at the system to see if it was safe to cook again. Since it was a friend and associate that we do a lot of business with I decided to blow my weekend and help him out.

The pictures speak for themselves, if the ducts werent installed properly, this place would have been a disaster.

Ewww. Looks like you could use a rust coating in there to!

Matt Do you have a good source for panels?
List some sources if you have the time. Thanks, Goat.

Ductmate or Flamegard. Flamegard doors are far superior to the standard Ductmate door.

I used to wonder how well the Ductmates would hold up in a fire but those pics prove that they will hold if they are properly in place. This guy got lucky because it looks like the doors were never taken off to clean the duct so the panels were in good shape. On the other side of that coin, if the panels were being taken off to clean the duct, they fire would not have raged through the ducts like that. 6 of one half dozen of the other I guess.
