Going to vegas!!!!!!!!!!!

Go to the strip and you won't think about power washing at all.
Unless you're out at night and see the white flatbed with the hot water unit and the yellow safety light that just drives around all night and doesn't do anything.

Tony, I will be in Vegas until Monday! Bachelor party for my buddy, what should I check out? I don't even want to think about power washing.

Where are you staying brother? Are you walking or driving? What do you like to do? Gambling? Hiking? Boating? Sightseeing?

There are a million things to do, it just depends on what you like.

Wow Ty! That's not the type of getaway I'm used to.

There are a lot of things to do. It's too hot right now to do some of them.

You could:

Rent a motorcycle and go on the strip and head out to Mt Charleston for sightseeing and lunch.

Go to the Mob Museum.

Go to the gun store and shoot some machine guns. (If you are like Ron you can probably do this in your back yard in Phoenix though)

Go to the Pawn Stars pawn shop.

If you like cars you can go to Count's Customs from "Counting Cars".

You could go to the Speedway and drive on the Nascar track.

Of course there are the dozens of high end strip joints (if you are so inclined and the wife doesn't mind), but they are likely to cost you more than all the others combined.

Or, you could just stop by here and teach my nephew, Cameron, how to make over a million a year doing residential work!!! I like that idea the best!!!!

If you are depressed you could call DJ Carroll and ask him if any self help seminars are going on around here.

Just don't sell your hair to a wig shop.

Tony aren't there a lot of churches there? Ty will need one after the first 48hours.

He can go with us on Sunday!

I haven't done the tours. Used to have an ultralight and flew over the outskirts of town.

Ty, give me a call when you get bored. I'll take you to lunch or dinner or something.

Feel free to stop by whenever you like. Somebody is here all day this time of the year. All our work is night work except for Saturday this week and possibly some emergency coil cleaning tomorrow.

Their stuff is HIGH priced!

The funny thing is that pawn shop was known as a crap hole before the show came out.

Most of the stuff there was old stuff, just like it is now and WAY over priced.

Back when the economy turned here and the bank cut off all signature loans for over two years, Shelly and I were trying to migrate to a cash only operation. We had a bunch of watches, some Movados, a Porsche Heritage, Chase Durer Aviation watches, (still have one of them) some Omegas and three Rolexes. (BTW, just in case you want to use watches as an investment, the Rolexes and Omegas are the only ones that sell easily and keep their value, you will get raped on the rest if you ever want to liquidate)

So I took a 1985 Rolex two-toned Datejust in mint condition to the old man. It had just been serviced and I had all the service history on it. At that time the shop was just an old beat up downtown pawn shop. I thought I'd get more money there because they had quite a few rolexes that they apparently had taken in during the night from their "walk up" window.

It's been a few years but if I remember correctly he offered me $600-700 for it.

Prior to asking how much he would buy it for I had come in earlier and looked at the exact same watch, but three years older, on sale there for $4200! The cheapest one they had on sale was $3500 and it was all stretched out!

So I asked him how he could offer me $600 for a watch he was going to put right in the display for $4200 and he told me I had a choice, I could either take what he was offering, or "take my a$$ out the door". (I think he eventually offered me $1100 before I left though)

So I took my a$$ and left.

I sold it on Craigslist in less than an hour for just under $3k. To be honest, for convenience sake I would have sold it to the old man for $1500-1800 if he had just offered a fair price.

But now they are booming! They still have a bunch of old junk in there, they still charge too much and now it's become just a big merchandise outlet for t-shirts, mugs and other stuff from the show. And you will NEVER see any of the guys from the show there unless you are there during taping. Then you have to wait in a long line that stretches way down the street.

As far as local celebrities from reality shows go I really like the Count's Customs guy. Their shop is open to the public most of the time and Danny is just as nice in person as he is on the show.

Anybody remember this scene from Leaving Las Vegas? Nicolas Cage pawns a 1993 Daytona (worth at least $7k at that time) and they give him $500 for it. I'm sure it happens every day here.

Why would anyone want to subscribe to a newspaper when they could get instant updates on items they are interested in using a simple craigslist phone app?

The yellow pages tried to latch on to the internet, but they were a day late and a dollar short. They raped so many people for so many years with their mafia style tactics because they were the only game in town. Now no one will give them the time of day.

I'm glad they are gone.

But I do miss the newspaper. It's just not the same reading it on a tablet.

I couldn't agree more, it's no where near the same!

Portland has a metro pop of about 2.3M, but The Oregonian's daily circulation has dwindled to just 175K. Sadly, they just announced that they're going to a 4-day only delivery. Probably the beginning of the end - step two.

Same thing is happening to broadcast news.
