Goals for the year met or not?

Whether it be on the business level or not, have or will you obtain the goals that you have set for yourself this year?

Mine were to go full-time, and achieve a net profit of ... well let's just say they were met. On a personal level I had a goal to pay off my home by the time I was 40, I'm 32 and it's a done deal. The best news for '08 though, my wife & I have been trying for a baby for 8 years, and our first is due in May! The economy may be in terrible shape as far as FY08, but it's been great to me.

Are there any other stories of prosperity out there?

SHHH don't say that Jeff won't be able to bash Bush anymore.

I have become completely debt free this year. But I'm about to get back in because of a new house getting built.

Congrats on the new baby and go ahead a take a few naps between now and May because after that they are few and far between.

Business has been good as I sold out 2 years ago and got back in this year with all new equipment and the work was still there.

Congrats again on the baby

Jeff, Have you tried Chantix yet? It gave some CRAZY dreams, but other than that no other major side effects, been smoke-free for a year & a half now using it.

Very inspiring post, Jason.....and congrats on the baby!

I'm going to miss my profit goal by about 10K unless some sort of miracle happens. But many other goals regarding organization, etc. have been met and/or exceeded. Profit goals will be missed due to a couple bad jobs, but I think the kinks have been worked out to prevent any similar problems in '09.

at this point sales are up over last year. That is good. I had the same problem with profit being down. I fixed that by firing a key person. next year might be a bit of an adventure but I anticipate another good year, I just need to work to make it happen.

My goals have ben met many times over the 16 years, but i am very concerned about the well being of our country in the months to come.

This has nothing to do with Bush or Obama, but what big buisness has done to this economy. I dont know if we will be able to bail our asses out of this mess any time soon.

Yes I tried it, did give some real funky dreams but really nothing else. I am going to try it again

I know several people it has worked for. I tried cold turkey, that was fun and my wife wanted to kill me LOL

I tried quitting smoking a few times, wife didn't mind but I wanted to kill everyone else...LOL

I kicked the hell out of our past gross profit margins and were running really close to doubling our sales over last year. The only problem is that kicked me up a couple tax brackets so I'm going to be paying out even higher fees in taxes this year.

Were still running 4 crews full time all year round, and I'm going truck shopping next month to pick up a couple more to help with the taxes and to gear up for next year. I'm going to build another super high flow dual trailer over the winter also.

Jeff, I have tried to quit smoking for many years, but always started back-up due to weight gain. This year, I tried Chantix (yes, you get weird dreams, but the reason is that you are going through withdrawal after about a week.) I had my Doc add Wellbutrin fro the crazies and a appetite suppressant for the weight gain. I have not had a cigarette - or the desire for one - since mid July and have not gained wieght.

Good job man! I used Chantix and it worked for me as well. Smoked for 15 years and haven't had one in about 6 months now. My dad used it was well after smoking for over 40 years and has been smoke free for over a year. All you guys tryin to quit give it a try, gotta stick with it!

All goal where meet this year , have a couple goal for next year. Like new box truck , and couple others things

Ours were met. As you can tell I havent been on the board in a while. We are still busy and running, today should be almost 80 here in Denver and its Mid November..... usually by this time we are plowing :) We have been really busy this month espicially, everyone trying to take advantage of the nice weather. We have done quite well this year, enough to hold us through the winter even if we don't plow.

We only did about 10 residential jobs the whole entire year though, but we far surpassed our commercial expectations.

Anyone else have a slow down on the residential end?

Great for you John, thats great

I was thinking of taking a couple months off from work and just have someone chain me to my house so I can't go buy some smokes. Been smoking 34 years and I know its going to kill me if nothing else does. I will be trying Chantix again

I have given up doing resi, but have passed a lot of resi calls on to some of the local guys. Glad I have a couple guys I can trust to do good work for some of my old customers and the new ones calling

I noticed you havent posted much. Great on all your work

I recall getting a carton of Marlboro's for Christmas at 12 (1971). It even had a picture of Santa on the carton with a TO: and a FROM: box printed right next to him. How convenient!
