Getting the phone to ring.

Hey guys I'm abit of a rookie to pressure washing I started my business
last July and it's still slowly getting off the ground. I was just wondering if
anyone could give me some good ideas about how to get the phone to ringing
I've got a beltdrive unit that is 4gpm 4000psi and x-jet to go with it so I'm pretty well set and ready and I've done about 10 houses of my own. Most of my work is sub work from a friend but I would really like to get going. I'm also interested in restoration work as well.

Any help and advice will be much appreciated. Thanks all.

Check your local laws. In my town, I can knock on doors and sell my service. In the next town, I could get arrested for that unless I get the proper license from the Town Hall. And those licenses expire after 30 days. They are cheap, but a real hastle to keep track of. I lived in a town in Texas that did not allow door hangers of any kind. Some towns have strange laws, just be aware of what is legal in your service areas. GOOD LUCK!!!

That's pretty much what I've been doing. Do any of you run ads in the yellow pages? I can run one ad and have 4 bold listings in 4 different columns such as Home improvement, pressure washing, home exterior cleaning, and window cleaning, for $140.00 a month. The yellow page covers about 90,000 people in this area. Sound good?

i had to build up my nerve to start knocking on doors by drinking a six pack first. then they smelled the beer on me. the only customer i got was a guy that ansewed the door with a beer in his hand.

I do the yellow pages but never get a whole lot from it I am in Montgomery, Prattville, Selma, Clanton, Wetumpka, Tallassee, Thorsby, Jemison and Maplesville ,oh and Marion and Greensboro Alabama, my best is by sending out complete books on our services and then a follow up visit ,then I usually end up making an appointment and doing an on site demo , then we sign the dotted line

Hey Chris Remember , ABC ?

THIS TRANSLATES TO .... ALWAYS BE CLOSING

We just signed for a yellow pages ad last Friday. It will run in August. There were only 2 other pressure washing companies under the heading and 1 only does hoods - so I think my chances are pretty good....plus the other ad that is in there is focused on Fleets. It cost me $91 per month for a 2" x 2" ad in 2 headings, so we went with Pressure/Power Washing Services & Snow Removal. I also get the same ad on yellowpages.com. We will see how it goes.
