funny but true

Russ Spence

Commercial Pressure Wash Expert
Sad but true, I got a call yesterday for a house wash, when the man said where it was I was all ears. Upon arrival he told me he already had a price :sarcastic:it was $200! Now, just so you know the home was 7000 square feet and built on a golf course in the richest area of east Montgomery Alabama. He then continued to talk and let me know that he was insulted that someone would only want 200 dollars to clean the sofitt and eaves of a home worth well over 1 million dollars, so 2.5 hours later we walked away, finished with $1500.00 and 4 referrals in the same area.

Just goes to show you some people are smarter than the ole 200 dollar house wash junk.

Wow Russ! You are my new Selling Hero!

I wish I could have hear that conversation!

Can you remember what was said and tell us?

That is great Russ, Congratulations!

I dont remember exactly but he said "I feel like it would take 1400 to 1500 to do this job correctly" (He wanted all of them brushed by hand with no bleach)

I then said "if I can do it for that do you want to go ahead and get it done today"

He said "yes"

You can take the man out of car sales, but you can't take car sales out of the man!!

Nice, Quick closing.

You didn't even have to get out the four square payment/time/trade/salesprice worksheet. :happydance:

What amazes me is my son Chris has absolutely no sales training, but he instinctively hits the close like that and goes for a close the second he sees an opening.

Thanks Russ - it's high time we hear the success and encouraging stories rather than the "other" kind :)

Congrats on finding a professional customer!

Hey sometimes the BEST sales technique is to just shut up and let them talk. Early in my car sales career I learned that God gives us 2 eyes, 2 ears and 1 mouth because he wants us to look and listen twice as much as we talk.:meeting:

Good advice. Many times people talk themselves out of a sale. Know when to listen and know when to ask for the order.
