Fridge Magnets

I'm currently looking into the cost of bulk fridge magnets direct from the manufacturer. Minimum orders, pricing, minimum order per logo, etc.

What I'm thinking is that if the pricing comes back way cheaper than they are being sold for online(which they should), some of us might want to get together and order some as a group.

Anybody possibly interested?

You can buy the magnets at Wall-Mart and just place your business card on them. I've done a few this way and they look really professional. Might give this a shot before you buy some.

There are so many suppliers out there that make the magnets and a lot of them are very thin. They are less expensive when they are thin but I have had a lot of customers tell me that they like the magnets on the refrigerator to hold up drawings and pictures of the kids but so many times they are given the thin magnets and the pictures fall down and some of the magnets don't stay up just by themselves so they end up throwing them away.

I have got a lot of samples from companies out there and I go with the 30mil from Columbia Designs out of Washington State. They are about $0.26 to $0.31 each depending on how many you order plus shipping. I don't know if there was a logo charge or not.

You can shop around and maybe even want to buy the thinner magnets but in the end if a magnet keeps on falling off the refrigerator or is useless, they will probably be thrown away. I want something that will be there for many years so they will remember me when they need services done.

I have gone directly to a manufacturer, not a promotional site/service.

I'm hoping to see a huge savings over them no matter which quality I choose.

I agree with you, the thicker the magnet the better!

about 5 years ago my brother done magnets that came out on the front of the phone book. I still see them around all the time. In peoples home and in offices. I thinks it's a great idea.

I've received a tentative quote back, the size of the magnet is 7cm*10cm (2.8 inch by 3.9 inch), 200g copperplate card with coating and the thickness of the soft magnet is .5mm.

Does anyone know if that is a decent magnet?

The minimum order is 5000 per design with a cost of .08 plus shipping.

Did you get a sample from them to see how thick they are? Try to get a sample of the magnets so you can decide what you want.

If it is a .5mm then that is just a tiny bit thicker than my business card, not very thick at all.

The 30mil I use look like they are 1mm thick when looking at them behind a ruler.

My business card magnets are the same size as my business cards,
2" x 3.5".

A minimum of 5000 is a lot to order, it will take a long time to give that many out and you never know, you might want to change something like your logo, info, website or something else.

If you have a lot to send out or doing a home show or something where you will be around crowds of people then that might be a good amount.

Thanks Chris, I had no idea how thick that was. Now I will have an idea what to ask for.
That is only one quote of several I've requested. They and the other companies will send samples first.
I wanted about 2500 for a campaign this spring. I'd been looking for manufacturers for some businesses I want to start, so I thought "Why not inquire about magnets". These would be coming over from China.

We'll see :)

Another thing to think about is most people are upgrading to stainlees steel appliances, (like myself) and magnets dont stick to them, at least mine !

I did a job last week and gave the woman a magnetic business card. When her husband started to write the check she told him that she had stuck the card to the filing cabinet out in the garage. I don't really care where they stick it as long as they stick it somewhere, remember where it is and use it when they need service again. For the record. This was a repeat customer who still had my regular card from 2yrs ago as well as the original invoice. Some are just more organized than others.

Good point on the Stainless appliances.

We have not done too many promotional giveaways....

Good Quality Pens are always good, you can always stick them in an envelope and send to potential customers, "lumpy" mail always gets opened.

I would like to hear other folks ideas on good promo goodies.

While looking for the company to do your magnets, see what other things you would like to hand out, they could probably give you a package deal for another item or two to be done at the same time once your logo/picture is digitized.

For the business card magnets, there are no set up fees, price includes full
