This was an old deck. The owner seemed happy after it was done. This pic was half stained. Give me some feed back I you see anything I should have done different, focused on more or whatever else. I can't improve without critisism. Thanks.

Lee congrats on popping your cherry! First thing I notice is the deck is obviously older with a lot of checking in it and use of nails. When I get these decks I reset the "popped" nails like the ones you see immediately on the hand rail of your picture. On older decks you probably have to factor in a price because there are so many. I sand all hand rails on all decks as a service anyway but I would also give a price or build the price in for running an orbital sander across the floor. For an older deck it isn't just appearance but also making it user friendly so that they enjoy being on the deck. I like the tone and the fact you can still see the grain, looks consistent too, nice!

Nice job Lee!

What stain did you use?

The stain job looks great. But like Everett said. when we are on the job we become part rough carpenter, part finsh carpenter, part painter, part artist and full time teachers (to the homeowners ). Those older decks can be brought back into shape but they do tend to need more than usual. CHARGE ACCORDINLY.

Thanks for the replies so far. Keep them coming if you can add anything.

How much did you get for doing that deck as a first one?

If I remember It was around 300. IMO I under bid bit I am still learning. It was a while back so I don't remember the measurements either.
