Fire @ Wendy's

Sitting at the local Wendy's having lunch with the wife, enjoying my chicken nuggetts and I notice a little camotion going on in the back. The manager comes out from the back (a scared 20's something girl) and tells the customers waiting in line that they can't take any more orders, that's it.

When she swings the eployees only door open I see a fire extinguisher sitting on the floor with the unmistakeable haze of fire suppressant floating through the air, a WTF moment to say the least. The sound of sirens approaching really make seated customers look curiously at each other. The fire chief's car pulls in, blocking the entrace so that no other customers come in, he walks in and immediatly orders everyone out. I grab our lunch to go outside, with no panic, after all no flames are visible. We're sitting right beside a side entrace in the front end of the store, I push it and IT'S LOCKED!.

We all go outside and the young manager tells me to quit taking pics with my cell, yeah right, I'm already a little pissed at the way the situation is being "handled" by management. As things settle down after a few minutes I pull the chief over to the still locked fire exit, and he's none too happy about it.

Why does upper management endanger customer's lives by putting ill-prepared store mangers in their stores? Sure, there's going to be a panic mode with everyone, but leaders in any situation are looked at and up to not only by the people directly under them but everyone around. I hate to have cost someone their job, but when lives are at stake and you're in charge you danged sure better know how to handle situations like this one...

It happens all the time. Because nobody is training the 20 somethings and they dont know any better.

You need to point it out or nobody will ever know and it will happen again. At the very least a re-training needs to be done.
