Anybody think BP will get fined accordingly for polluting the gulf with 10 million gallons of crude oil. I know if a pressure washer was caught dumping a quart of oil in the ocean they would probably be put out of business with the fines. the government will probably give them a contract worth millions to clean up their mess.

They should have to pay enough cash to make it through to all the generations that will have to deal with whatever effects this will have on the environment.
Would you believe that they are currently trying to get into Canadian waters, and there big response as to why we should let them is that they will have learned by this experience. Still no hard plans!

They need to be put out of business after the US government bankrupts them for this catastrophe.

Are any of you Southerners near the beach and starting to see this contamination?

The Valdis(sp) oil spill in Alaska, was in the courts forever and in appeal the oil company ended up paying hardly anything compared to what they were suppose to. I am pretty sure it, the law suit was cut to 10% of what the original settlement was and the common folks, the victims got basically crap. Many have died and got nothing for all their losses

I didnt care much either way about off shore drilling, but if all these companies can come up with for an accident like this is try to put a big metal condom over the leak and have people sign waivers that they can't sue when they screw up bad, I say we really need to find something better long term than oil from off our shores or giving all our money to the arabs countries that hate us anyway

Man I am sure I don't want an accident like this off the shores of where I live. What a mess, 20 years later you can still turn rocks over in Alaska and have heavy thick oil, gross, not real great for the economy or swimming

Big Oil does what they want, as does most large corps, that's not just liberal Jeff thinking & talking points, its the truth!!!!!!!
Drill baby, drill Ha Ha Ha.........But heck I spent $3580 in fuel in April...argggggggggg

Are you aware that the Saudis are boycotting American products?
In addition, they are gouging us on oil prices.
Shouldn't we return the favor? Can't we take control of our own destiny
and let these giant oil importers know who REALLY generates their profits,
their livings? How about leaving American Dollars in America and reduce the import/export deficit?

An appealing remedy might be to boycott their GAS. Every time you fill up your car
you can avoid putting more money into the coffers of Saudi Arabia .
Just purchase gas from companies that don't import their oil from the Saudis.

Nothing is more frustrating than the feeling that every time I fill up my tank,
I'm sending my money to people who I get the impression want me, my family and my friends dead .
The following gas companies import Middle Eastern oil:

Shell......................................... 205,742,000 barrels
Chevron/Texaco..................... 144,332,000 barrels
Exxon /Mobil.......................... 130,082,000 barrels
Marathon/Speedway............. 117,740,000 barrels
Amoco...................................... 62,231,000 barrels

And CITGO oil is imported from Venezuela by Dictator Hugo Chavez who hates America and openly
avows our economic destruction! (We pay Chavez's regime nearly $10 Billion per year in oil revenues!)

The U.S. currently imports 5,517,000 barrels of crude oil per day from OPEC.
If you do the math at $100 per barrel, that's over $550 million PER DAY ($200 BILLION per year!)
handed over to OPEC, many of whose members are our confirmed enemies!!!!!
It won't stop here - oil prices could go to $200 a barrel or higher if we keep buying their product..

Here are some large companies that do not import Middle Eastern oil:
SUNOCO ........................... 0 barrels
Conoco........................... 0 barrels
Sinclair......................... 0 barrels
BP / Phillips.................. 0 barrels
Hess. ................................... 0 barrels
ARC0 ................................... 0 barrels
Maverick............................... 0 barrels
Flying J. ............................... 0 barrels
Valero................................ 0 barrels
Murphy Oil USA * ............. 0 Sold at Wal-Mart , gas is from South Arkansas and fully USA owned and produced..
• *Not only that but they give scholarships to all children in their town who finish high school and are legal US citizens.
• All of this information is available from the U.S. Department of Energy and each company is required to state where they get their oil and how much they are importing.

If that is true about Murphy oil, that is the first good thing I ever heard about Wally World.
