My backup unit -- 18 hp Vanguard with 5.6 gpm @ 3,500 psi -- has been machine gunning for a month now. Kept cleaning inlet filter, replaced pump valves, check seals then finally bought a new unloader. Nothing stopped the machine gunning until today. Started replacing the inlet hose and clamps and found my problem. Five leaves from a live oak tree found there way into the inlet hose but stopped just short of entering the filter. They were hidden by the barb fitting that screws into the filter so I couldn't see them. Cleared it out and everything now runs SMOOTH again!!
This all happened after my tank lid came off while traveling down I-95 -- never to be found again. I have a new tank lid now but within the two weeks that I didn't, leaves dropped into my tank. Man, what a headache to finally get rid of!
