Facebook requires 10K fans?

This is the asnwer I was given about creating a customized FB landing page from a website developer. What is everyones thoughts or experiences?

"When doing this, we have discovered that Facebook has changed the rules and in order to create customized pages to land on you need 10K fans. So we cannot create the custom landing page."

Thanks to Greg and DJ. I saw Mikes FB page in the past and said to my designer I wanted a unique landing page and that was the response he gave me. Maybe his answer was money based and he did not want to do it without the charge?

I will look into this more now.

The issue is not creating the page. The issue is that when people go to your Facebook page, it will not be the first thing they see, since this just recently changed. The article you provided was written in June, 2010. Facebook has changed their requirements within the past few weeks, forcing users to have 10K fans in order to utilize that feature. Anyone who created a page prior to this rule change can still do it. New pages are the issue.<?xml:namespace prefix = o /><o></o>
