Exploding Swivel!

I have always used these swivels, they swivel like no other, smooth as butter. They're under 30 bucks and the rebuild is like 6 or 8. They don't really have a brand but I think you can recognize it, a lot of people carry them. But for the second time in maybe 8 years I had one 'explode'. Sounds like a gunshot, your standing with no hose or spray, your wet and you feel like you got slapped:eek:

The first one had been rebuilt many times but this one had not been rebuilt. Thing was I noticed something different about the swivel 3 weeks ago:banghead: and kept telling myself 'change the swivel'

I have seen many different amounts of back and forth play right out of the bag but the play did change on this one (1) I could feel a little roughness every now and then (2) It would leak a little tiny bit once in a while(3)

So, I don't know how many times they should be rebuilt and if you notice anything like above I would take this into consideration.

I use those same swivels, I actually like those more than the mosmatic swivel, the mosmatic do not swivel as good and the hose gets more and more twists that you have to manually untwist where the brass swivel you don't have that problem nearly as much.

I had one explode about 2 or 2.5 years ago and the same thing, sounds like a gun shot.

I did not know you can rebuild them.

When it starts turning rough or something does not feel right I will just change it out.

That brass swivel is a great swivel, I use a lot of hot water and downstream all kinds of chemicals and they hold up great.

I had one come apart on me last month. Scared the crap out of me. I am just glad I wasn't using hot water at the time.

Dont like swivels had the same problem. I just learned to deal with it and counter turn when i see a twist.

I have put thousands of hours on those swivels and I think they work the best. I have tried many swivels that don't. But with that exploding thing, they still work to good for me not to use them. They say 6 gpm but the passageway looks plenty big enough for more, I've been running 8.5 for a couple years. The mosmatic is longer which I don't like, the short cheaper ones don't swivel as well, the super swivels are too big. Maybe the manufacturer, who I found once but don't remember, would look at strengthening them. Maybe Bob at Pressure Tek knows them.

Looks like those are the right ones Joey, they really are good swivels.
