Ever learned anything from a customer???

Years ago when I was just starting out, I did not hook a hose back up to a faucet when I got done cleaning a home. The customer called me and chewed me out good for not leaving things the way were. One of biggest things with helpers now is to make sure thay ALWAYS put things back the way they were. In fact if we have a patio to clean we don't take the plants off the patio, we have one guy move it over a little, clean under it, then put it right back where it was.

Today I cleaned what I thought was a clean house. Couldn't really figure why she wanted us there and in fact tried to talk her out of the house wash part and just let us clean the concrete. But she was selling the house and wanted it cleaned so we did. Got an email from her today telling me how clean everything was and that the house was now ready for pics. Learned today that after cleaning so many dirty houses throughout the years that what I consider a clean house is not clean to the customer.

I once learned that I was stupid and overweight from a customer. I guess I am a fast learner cause it took less than 3 minutes for him to teach me this in his driveway during our first meeting. He also learned something. He learned that I don't hold my tongue for very long and that I didn't need his business. He almost learned another lesson but I figured it wasn't worth it. I enjoy my freedom way too much so I just got my stupid fat butt back in my truck and left.

That is just to funny Larry

That was very rude of him to say things like that Larry.

Didn't you tell him "Everyone Loves Larry, Larry is very loveable and huggable?"

Never expect to be tipped ! My workers get tipped when doing wood restoration sometimes. When i did residential widow cleaning I recieved extra money all the time. When re hooking the hose back up I replace the gasket or just put one in for the missing one and tell them what you did. It's simple !

I learned the ones who are the nicest at the initial meeting will be the hardest to please.

No, it is the ones that think that they are the easiest to work with, and don't have high expectations. I prefer someone that is initially a prick to someone that thinks that they don't expect much.

For me it's the ones who will talk me down to my lowest possible price for a job that are the pickiest. And when you are half way into the job, they come back out, and want you to throw in something else for free. "Hey, while you are out here, could you just go ahead and 'spray off' the driveway?" And by "spray off" They don't mean just rinse.

Been there done that a million times. I wonder if they would ask a painter if they could just go ahead and paint that extra room for free seeing as how the paint can is open and they have their brush in their hand.
