I had a customer call me 3 days ago interested in getting his Tile Roof Cleaned. He informed me that he had gone up on the roof and power washed all the leaves, pollen etc... out of every crack and crevice and that it took him 2 days to do this. He said that he needed some kind of a Mildew remover/killer treatment put on the roof because it was very moldy and that he was gonna be re-painting the roof himself in the next couple of weeks. We seemed to hit it off and spoke for at least 15 min about my method of treating the roof, using the right kind of paint for tile roofs Blah Blah Blah! Anyway, I looked up his sq footage and gave him a fair price on treating his roof. He told me he had 1 other estimate to get and was very adamant about getting it. (Tough guy to close.) I've been very busy for the past few days so I waited to do a follow up call with him as I do with all my outstanding leads. When he answered the phone and heard it was me he got very short and said that he decided he's gonna do it himself.

I then asked what he was planning on using and he said Chlorine Bleach and TSP and that he had done his research. I proceeded to tell him to be careful not only with what he was going to use and to take precautions with his plants and such but to be careful being up on the roof applying chems because it can get very slippery and dangerous up there if your not used to it. That's when he said to me " I didn't ask you for your opinion, have a nice day" and hung up on me...

I know there are all types of people out there in this world but dumb azz rude people really Pizz me off especially when you do all you can to be professional and nice to them. AAARrrrg!!!! OK! I'm done venting...

Maybe he will kill his grass and shrubs.....he deserves it
 
Can you watch him do it himself and videotape it when he falls off the roof so we can all have a good laugh?
 
You could call and report him as an unlicensed roof contractor and roof cleaner up on a roof doing work without a license and no insurance and the neighbors are complaining. hahahahahahaha

That visit would be fun to watch. hahahahaha

What comes around goes around. hahahahaha

Hang around our auto repair shop for a day or two. Some of the people you talk to on the phone make you want to slap yourself ! One guy was asking what this thing on his motor was. Asked him what it looked like. He said "its this thing right here." I guess he thought because he could see it so could i through the phone.
 
He will spend damn near as much on bleach at Lowe's as he would if he just paid you to clean it the right way........whats he gonna save $50-$100 bucks doing it himself plus spend his entire weekend doing it....

I would still shoot his dog by the way!!!

Hahaha! I think I'd rather shoot him for being RUDE!!! The dog is probably the smart one in the family... Oh well! Here is what I'm figuring. We already know he has a PW'er. I'll bet that he thinks he will be able to DS it onto the Roof and it is just all gonna disappear. Oh boy, is he in for a rude awakening... Not gonna work. He said he was gonna mix it with TSP... I'll bet he uses that TSP substitute crap. NOT going to work. At this point he's gonna realize that he's gonna have to spray it with a pump up...Hahaha! Now the fun begins...Sore legs, busted back, burns on legs from love leaking out of the sprayer. LOL and that only for as long as the sprayer stays working...Ooops,,back to HD for another pump sprayer... I wonder how many trips he makes. Of course there is always the big question he'll be asking himself,,, Should I swing by the ER and have these Chemical burns looked at or should I go to Home Depot first? :rolleyes:
 
Larry I might take a differant approach.
If you can win this customer over you will have a customer for life.
Sometimes the best thing you can do when someone is rude to you is be as nice as you can be to him.
What I would do is offer my knowledge to him free WHILE he is washing his roof to make sure he will do it correctly using his pump up sprayer ect...
You will have to be sincere in offering him this for him to accept, and if you can do this when he gets tired of pumping the sprayer or starts cracking tiles or it does not come clean, You are there and hopefully he will gladly pay you to do it correctly.
That is what I would do!!!!

That's what I was trying to do when he said " I didn't ask you for your opinion". And the hung up on me...I think this guy just plain has issues. I kinda sensed that the first time he called.You just can't reason with some people no matter how hard you try... Got your message the other day AL. Sorry I didn't get back to you... MY BAD! :eek: I will give you a call around 9-9:30am.
 
I used to have that kind of issue when I had a welding business yrs back. My cousins brothers uncle will fix it in his garage for a 6 pack, but I don't know how well. I was actually told that. I told the guy to have him fix it. Why are you here talking to me if he will fix it. He came back a week or so later for me to repair the botch job.
