Ever browse other professional forums?

I've been on some HV*C forums for few years because that's where I go to get some answers on unit models, unusual setups with AC's etc.

I'm also on a board about my wife's brand of car.

I'm also on a board about ultras*nic fire restoration cleaning

and local business owners,

and carpet cleaners (I don't do it, just use some of their equipment)

etc, etc.

Here's my conclusions from a few years of travelling the net:

HV*C guys are always right. If there are four possible answers to a question, four guys will answer it differently and all four of them will argue for hours that the other three are wrong. I have to keep reminding myself that these are just employees and not business owners so I can understand the lack of professionalism. These guys in EVERY single board I've been on are quick to jump down each others throats and a consensus on issues is rare.

BM* owners are not the brightest bulbs. At least the ones posting on forums aren't. As Forest Gump would say "that's all I've got to say about that".

Ultras*nic guys are so secretive they would kill their grandmother if she walked in on them cleaning something.

Carpet cleaners are a little closer to what we are.

But all in all, I still say this group here is the best group of people I have ever found on the web.

Nobody here is going to win any spelling Bee's. But there's a lot of comraderie and friendship and just common sense.

I'm better in my business for having found you guys.

BTW the *'s are so no one does a search for them and finds this post. Some of those professions already have bad reputation and I don't want to ad my opinions to the whole web.

5th grade for me!

Still remember it I won it on "miscellaneous". :cool:

Of course it was in Tennessee and the next year I lost when I couldn't spell farn. I asked them to use it in a sentence. They told me:

"I cudnt unnerstand a wurd he sed ... must be from some farn
country."

My spellin bee days were over after that.:D
 
The "fights" we sometimes see on the cleaning forums are nothing compared to some other forums.
One of my hobbies is high end stereo equipment.
THOSE forums get out of control on a daily bassis.
There are fights that have been going on for years, with no signs of stopping.
Religion forums can be "fun" too, LOL
One forum had some Pentacostals going round and round with some Southern Baptists :D
Then, we had a good one between some Jehova's Witnesses and Christians. :(

I spent a few minutes on a couple of those boards looking for some answers about my wifes car and what you said just summed it up:D

This is so true! I've seen some forums that are just plain hateful! Everyone going at it at every opportunity. It's interesting how people treat each other when they will never meet face to face.
 
I have been on quite a few, mostly looking but only joined a few and you are right, lots of fighting between themselves.

There is a lot of the need to keep the secrets to themselves as they are paranoid of the competition finding out and possibly lowballing them even more.


I did win the school's 5th grade spelling bee. I did not go into the higher grades as it was not "cool" anymore and as it was I was always getting into a lot of fights and getting suspended, my dad kept telling me that I was going to get an ass whoopin by him if I kept on getting into fights. hahaha
