Equipment question

I need a little advice on equipment. Looking to buy a trailered hot water set up. I've been doing only roofs up till now but I have several of my customers asking for driveways, porches and sidewalks to be cleaned as well. I've been using a 3 gpm 2.5 psi cold until now, very slow. I've found one of these http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/w...7423_200317423
My local store has one with cosmetic damage (tool box) so $5700.00. I have about 6k to spend. Any advice would be appreciated. thanks, Scott

My advice is buy from a GOOD Power Washer supply company not a place that sells everything else. These units always require changes, additional equipment etc. You're not just buying a PW. You'll need service, parts and knowledge. And someone that understands when your unit is down you are out of business.

Look at Scrappy's new rig and talk to him. I'm sure he researched the heck out of it before he made a decision. With a skid unit, trailer, and tank there's not much you can't do. $6K could get you a nice rig if you shop it hard. With the drought I see nice rigs with low hours down south for sale on Craig's list all the time.

I agree if you have a pressure washer store in your area you would be better of buying from them even if you have to pay a bit more. In my past experience if you try and take your setup to a store that you did not purchase it from the tend to just tell you "yep its broke we have a nice unit for sale over here" lol and i personaly like having the bunner and pressure washer seperate. Makes it much easyer to work on and change out fittings and hoses.

I am always one to go for a good deal.... However, it sounds like you are new in this type of equipment. If so, then go to an outfit that will help you when the thing needs repairs. Go to a dealer of a name brand Pressure Washer. Anyone can sell you an item, but not everyone will back it up. I do not know about Northerns Star Brand. If I were to purchase, Landa, MiTM then Alkota in that order. To do drive ways, of course you need a filtration system to filter the oil, brake dust, transmission fluid, tire marks etc. It's a Federal Law. But for the washer part, you will need 5.2+ GPM's with a boiler not less than 350,000 BTU's. Pressure can be 3,000 psi. ( About $8,000 more or less )

I know this..... THEY ARE DEALING !!! So remember... cash in your pocket means YOU ARE KING !!!

Thanks for the advice guys. I just ordered a delco cobalt from Russ.Looks like a good startup machine for me. Russ was very helpful.I think I can build my whole rig for less than that northstar i orginally posted about. Anyone want to come and put it all together for me?:D scott
