Epoxy painted concrete

Sometime heat will work....Xylene might work better but be careful

We're doing a big job right now taking paint off a curb and it's working well with just heat.

If the paint was applied correctly, you may have a lot of trouble getting it off. We've prepped garage floors for that stuff by etching the concrete for better adhesion. That makes it stick good!

I would do a test patch to figure out how easy it comes off. We did that at the current job we're doing. Only problem was the area I tried came off super easy and then we ran into areas that were three times harder to get off once on the job. The customer is being cool though and we were able to re-negotiate! Maybe try a few different spots.

Good luck!

I have done some where the paint was epoxy based and used heat and a turbo nozzle. 10' x 30' patio took 2 full days. It was very durable expoxy paint, not straight expoxy.

I would charge by the hour but do a demo first to see if it even comes up.

I had to remove green paint from a garage floor this week. The customer had tried to use a box store paint remover and it did nothing. Well,,, until I hit it with water. It took me an hour and a half to turbo aprox 70% of the paint off. As soon as the water started hitting it it began to bubble up and come off. I don't think he coated the whole flooring with it. Thus only getting up 70%.

+1 on charging by the hour.

I think everyones right on - unpredictable. 95% might come off like a breeze and the last 5% is neverending, and 95% clean can look only 8% good. And the mess that gets everywhere can be a pain.

Followup;

Customer was wrong, looks like just latex paint. It all came up off the entire driveway in less than an hour. NICE!!!!!

PM said if we can get it up we are their new pressure washer contractors. :)

(This is a residental rental home PM)

Right on, nice. I hope you didn't take my advice and charge by the hour!

It was too late, he already gave a price and would have stuck to it even if it took two days. He wants the other work from this PM.

Residential PM's are not the greatest for work volume, in my experience. Of course, it could just be me.

That is great, glad it was not one of those never-ending jobs. hahahahaha

My #1 customers are residential PMs. I have also seen a lot of them who only shop price. They are usually very loyal when you get good ones.
