Engine snap back, breaking pull start rope.

Today I had a problem while pull starting my machine. The rope broke three times in a 5 minute period. I would go to pull it and it would snap back so hard the rope broke. It also slammed my hand so hard I thought I was going into shock!

Any ideas what causes this? A fix?

I guess it's time for a new machine...LOL hmmm. 8 gpm? or 10? Definitely looking forward to electric start!

No it pulls like it always does, it also pulled back! I solved the problem by pulling it slowly a few times then it would start without snapping back. Just can't keep doing that way, because I will forget and get my hand whacked.
