Drum transfer pump or drum faucet?

I just switched over to 55 Gallon drums of SH. The red siphon pumps are a PITA.. What are u guys using to transfer? I am going to order a Wesco drum cart that can also have a faucet installed on the drum to dispense into 5 gallon buckets. ( 5 gallon buckets are always fun to pour into tanks... etc.. ) I suppose a large funnel is in order too! any suggestions based on experience would be helpful!1

I've been using the drum faucet for a little over a year now and love it. It works for me instead of me working for one of those awful hand (siphoning) pumps. Much easier and much less effort. Besides, when the drum gets half empty the siphon pumps pretty much quit functioning properly so then you have to work even harder.

We sleep better at night now after getting our hands on the fatboy and using it to transfer instead of siphon pumping. We always rinse the pump with water immediately after transfer from the water i keep in my buffer tank. I tried a drum faucet once it just didnt work for my likings.

Hey Jeff how did you set up your Fatboy?

We set it up actually on our flatbed to provide more uses for it then just a transfer pump sitting in our shop.

We have Cam Lock drop sticks In both our two chem tanks as well as our buffer tank. This allows use as "quick connects"(the camlocks) to instantly attach to any of our tanks for both filling the chem tanks or switching to the buffer tank dropstick for an instant flush of the pump.

We use a mobile PVC dropstick attached to poly then camlock to attach to the inlet of our fb. All our dropsticks have the 50 mesh tank screens at the button to avoid debris and clogs.

Sorry if this wasn't a clear explanation, Ill work on getting pictures. Our setup just allows safe easy one man transfers filling our chem tanks in no time at all. Transitioning to this setup has caused us to save considerable amounts of time and have less spillage/issues that we were having with siphon pumps.

That sounds interesting Jeff, post some pics when you can.

Yeah we have ours set up basically the same way. So much easier.

Just use the pump on your truck. Thats what we did for years. If you have a bleach spraying pump than you have a way already to transfer. Run another 3 way valve or use more hose. The draw tube is just a stick of pac with a bend. Keep it simple don't overthink it. We didn't add a transfer pump until we used the 500 gallon mini bulk tank.
