Draining out my Float tank

Clean County PW

When I'm done using my Powerwasher I shut off the water and let the machine run untill my Float tank empties out the water thats in it. I do this because my PW is in my enclose trailer and when I drive water can splash out of my Float tank. This is why I let the PW run untill there is no more water in this tank.

I don't let my pump run dry but as soon as I see the water pressure drop down out of my hose I turn off the PW.

Can this hurt my pump by doing this???

Do you run the p/w with the burner off until you get cool/cold water at the gun and then run it down?
Depending on your float tank, can you put a drain line in? or a cover to limit the splash? or run the machine until you have an inch of water above your screen, then throw a clean rag inside to limit splash.

when you see that pressure drop that means your pump is trying to compress air, not water. Everytime you do this your adding 40 hours of use to your pump.
Run the water down to a comfortable level and then throw a bath towel in it.
By the way. You can easyly crack a seal doing the air water thing.

I've got a 2" drain pipe that runs out the floor board of my enclosed trailer...courtesy of the self proclaimed "Pressure Wash Master", himself, Justin K.

This setup is great! I think there will always be a few times that we forget or get too busy to turn off the spigot, only to remember when it's too late that our tank is more than half full. I just push down a little red lever with my foot and voila! I lose whatever fresh, soft water I have (which of course makes me sort of cringe to let this good water go). I only do this if I have a long drive ahead of me though and don't want to haul that much water.
