Downstreaming

Hey Guys, new to downstreaming and using a 5 gallon bucket. I can't find 12% sh, so using 8.25. What is the best ratio for this using a 2.3 injector. Is there any need to dilute with water. Thanks

Anyone?

Depends on how bad/ dirty/ moldy it is that your cleaning. I would just pour a some soap into your five gallon bucket, drop the line in the bucket and start cleaning. Lots and lots of variables to consider when deciding how strong of a mix is needed. In time you will be able to just eyeball it and make your mix accordingly.

I use an 8 gpm machine and I dilute my bleach about 50:50 and have no problem with anything but stucco or eifs. I can even do that with household bleach. But I've tried to optimize my system and believe I am pulling a very strong downstream mix.

What gpm pump and hose length are you using? What size (gpm) nozzle orifice for soaping? What gpm is your spray gun rated?

Thanks guys, 4 gpm, 4200 psi, gun rated at 5000 and 5 gpm, 100ft hose most of the time, soap black nozzle 60 degree I think. Thanks for your responses

I don't think I would dilute it, but if you do I probably wouldn't do more then a gallon of water to a five gallon bucket. You also may want to switch to a higher GPM gun and a 2.1 injector.

Haven't heard injectors referred to by "2.1" or "2.3", what does that represent?

Not sure exactly. a 2.1 injector is designed for 2 to 4 GPM. A 2.2 injector is designed for 5 to 7 and the 2.3 injector is it designed for 8 to 10 I believe. Something like that.

I usually just start with water and soap, and then add bleach a little at a time until it starts cleaning, that way I don't waste bleach.

2.1 and 2.3 refers to the size of the orifice on the injector. Smaller orifices pull more soap because the create a larger pressure difference at the venturi. However the will restrict your flow on larger machines. But I don't even see how a 2.3 would pull soap with his 4gpm machine.

Im doubtful a 2.3 would even draw at 4gpm. 2.3 is a 5-8 gpm orifice.

When I have my machines linked together and I'm using 8 GPM, I use a 2.3 injector, and when I shut one of those machines off and downstream with just one 4 GPM machine, I still use that same 2.3 injector. IT does draw but I don't know how much in comparison to what it would do if I had a 2.1.
